I've only been playing about a month so far. A couple days ago I discovered what the Outfit Designer feature does. Lets you set your character's appearance to look like any combination of armor you choose, regardless of the armor you have equipped. Neat stuff.

 

But there was an early Imperial Agent jacket I saw that I really liked, but sold once I earned something better. I'm certain this jacket was a mission reward from either the Prologue or in the first half of Chapter 1. On my Imperial Agent Operative (Cathar species), it appeared white/gray/silver-ish with a red pattern down the back, and the jacket design was akin to a trenchcoat.

 

I decided to make a new, temporary Imperial Agent, a Sniper this time (Rattataki species), in hopes of finding this exact jacket so I can (in theory) place it in my Legacy storage and thus pass it along to my Operative. I forget if the jacket is part of a larger set.

 

The only thing is, I don't remember if I did many, if any side-quests as the Operative. So I don't know if it was a story mission reward or a side-quest reward, and this is all assuming the mission rewards are fixed and not random.

 

Anyone have an idea what I'm talking about, and if possible, what mission has the jacket?

Have you tried to find the jacket or one looking similar at https://torf.mmo-fashion.com ? That sites data-bank has pretty much all modifiable gear listed with screenshots and often with the source where to get them too (crew skills, legacy vendors, factions, and so on).

Maybe you find one that looks exactly like the piece you are looking for or one similar enough. Even if not maybe it helps to narrow down on the one you want. A lot of lower level quest rewards have the same look as the old now archived green armor schematics from before 4.0. With a screenshot someone might be able to provide you with a name of the armor for finding someone on your server to craft it for you.

A word of warning: if it is a mission reward, it will be bound to the character that does the mission(1). If you want to transfer it to the older character, you'll be out of luck.

I have seen Bound and Bound To Legacy, but I sort of figured anything could be put into Legacy storage. In retrospect, it seems fairly obvious. I guess I still have a lot to learn about this game.

Could it be the Carbon-Scored Targeter's Jacket MK-2? It comes a little later than you suggest, about mid-way through the Agent's Class Missions on Tatooine, second half of chapter one, but it fits the description; silverish-grey in color, bright red trim, darker red pattern on the back.
