tykiller
Hey guys SWTOR has been out for almost 2 years now and i have been wondering are there any new classes planned for the future. By the looks of it BioWare covered most of the basic classes you know tank/dps/heal all that and they are all spread out pretty evenly through characters. It just seems as if 4 classes with 2 sub classes can get old, and in a 2 year period many players have either maxed or experienced all of these classes. Now i understand how hard it would be to implement a whole new class/classes for both the republic and the empire but i feel that implementation of new classes would bring in a large sum of older players who got bored back into the game and also encourage current players to keep playing this game. What is your opinion on the matter, has there been any information given to us, post it in the comments below id like to see other people's views. thecoffeecup
I think the game has a lot of classes already, and I would prefer it if they focused on solving current issues and polishing the current classes first.
Kaos_KidSWTOR
I HIGHLY doubt that Bioware has new classes planned. That would require making MORE voice acting, new stories, and new animations. I superbly doubt that BW has ANY intention to add new classes. it's too much effort. Don't know how to work it for smuggler though.

Zoom_VI
Yes we need new classes, balancing 8 different AC's isn't challenging enough.
commentor
I would like to see a Independent faction.Space Pirate(or Gangster) and have Bounty Hunter and Smuggler moved to Independent. I feel that Bounty Hunter and Smuggler can have an added story line that leads to them going Independent. The Pirate/Gangster can become one "of the last real Independents" (anyone remember that quote from Hutta on IA class:D?) The Space Pirate/Gangster has so much potential for story lines and even companions+Romance Arcs. I realize this would take a long time to make happen but I think it'd be cool. I would also like to see Housing and more of a sandbox feel. I know SWG had success with this and there's nothing wrong with taking a page from another game's playbook. Again I realize this would be hard to create but I think it'd be a cool addition. Also I wish classes could learn other weapon proficiency and there needs to be more companion storylines. I realize this would all take time to make happen but it's something I'd like to see and I think with time BioWare can create a lot of new and great content. thanks for reading:)
RijavecWarren
New Classes! 1 Idea that i think would work well, is a class where it starts off with your character living alone, surviving in the streets of Nar Shaddaa or the dunes of Tatooine and then is approached by a Character of note (a Jedi Master, a High-Ranked Soldier, etc) and taken in back to a Republic Planet where he/she will commence in training to become a republic soldier. During this training, something extensive happens and it is revealed that your character has force capabilities but refuses to wield a lightsaber/melee weapon. Thus you are left with a Soldier with ranged weaponary and a couple of force abilities. This character could then chose to specialise in 1 of 3 areas being either DPS, Healer or Tank This would provide much diversity and also an option could be given to the character to either start on Tython or on Ord Mantell... Macroeconomics
The only way they should add new classes is if they add a third faction (Hutts or whomever). PvP in this game needs a third faction if you are ever going to have anything persistent in pvp, either open world or via the super secret space project. However, as someone else stated, that would require a ton of new voice acting, script/plot writing and class balancing work. Not gonna happen. No, the only way it's going to happen is if they add new advanced classes for existing base classes, like someone said. That way they can reuse the same class stories for the new classes. To make a new class story, it would require not just new voice acting and writing/scripting, but tens of millions of dollars and 3-5 years of development time. It's not practical. mynxvablid
Greetings, I can see a lot of potential in the game. some added classes I'd like to see are: Republic: 1) Noble: Advanced classes could be Officer or Crime Lord. Idea for this comes from Princess Leia who would fit the Noble turned Officer. However, The flip side would be based upon Prince Xizor who would later lead the Black Sun. The Officer could have healing and perhaps tank. Crime lord could be damage. 2) Force Adept: Advanced Classes could be Zeison Sha or Matukai Adept These two groups were mentioned indirectly through various armor types in Kotor 2. So it would make sense to see them in the game. Matukai Adept could be tank/damage and Zeison Sha could be damage. Imperial:1) Failed Jedi: Advanced Classes could be Dark Jedi or Dark Side Devotee. I've always thought since I first played that it would be cool to be able to fall to the dark side as a Jedi and become a Sith. Well, this class would simulate that. As a Dark Jedi, I would see that more martial skills Tank/damage. The Dark Side Devotee more akin to the Consular or the Inquisitor, focusing more on Damage or healing. 2) Droid: Advanced classes could be Assassin Droid or Battle Droid I thought it would be awesome to play a droid with its own special class. Inspiration should be obvious: HK 47. The advanced class roles are self explanatory. Mynx
Helig
While I'm against adding new classes till BW balances existing ones (so pretty much never, given BW's approach to balancing), I wouldn't mind having a Teras Kasi class. Melee, light/medium armour, unarmed combat focused, with some light supplemental tech (Teras Kasi artists were known to use specialized personal shields, stealth belts, etc., to mitigate the effect of bringing fists to a gunfight/lightsaber fight). Melee tank/DPS - with active mitigation techniques like disarming (disable weapon skills for X seconds), pressure point strikes (block Force/Tech usage for X seconds), finishers chained from a knockdown/mez, etc.
Dreamsky
I would luv to see a new class or two. The game's been out for 2+ years, a lot of MMO's adds new classes to keep thing fresh. A support class would be nice, something in the line of a stimfiend you see in S&V. They themselves don't do much but as a team support they can do constant small aoe regens, increase defence, increase attack, debuff enemies, cc. A Bard if you will. A branching advance class of that could be an agent type Tank. A heal tank that gets their threat from healing. Does little damage, but can buff their own defences up with stims, provide AOE heals for and minor buffs to all the melee around him. Like a FFXI Paladin Tank. If no new classes then how about specialist classes for tanks and healers? Right now all tanks really have 1 skill tree to work with if they are tanking. Every Juggernaut tank has pretty much the same skill set as another. Would like to see a specialist class added to the currently optional role classes like the tanks and healers. For example the Agent advance class operative. Maybe a specialist class for healer and DD that makes you loose traits of a general agent and gain access to an optional tree. If you are a specialist op healer, you'll loose the 2 dd tree and gain 1 or 2 healing tree to play with. If you are a Dps OP, then you'll loose the medical tree and gain maybe a mid range tree? No new story line or voice acting if you append on the current advance classes. Would need commitment like when you choose your advance class. Make specialization unlockable only at level 55. If you don't specialist then you can still do fine with the current 1 tank tree or 1 healer tree, and you maintain your ability to swap roles as needed. But if you do specialize you get 2 new trees of the specialization. Just a thought...

Master_Hitsugaya
The easiest was I think would be to do something akin to wow's hero class. Where the class starts at lvl 50( right after class stories end and where the hut cartel begins would make it tremeeously easier) or like I saw someone saw adding new advanced classes( would be a good alternative) But I have no doubt that one day we will get new classes unless the game closes down but if say this game is around as long as wow was it would be illogical for them to not add new classes. I do think being a droid would be awesome that may be more of a race( just with different armor)
TheSupaCoopa
Duran'del here: Engineer(New AC for Trooper) -focuses on using turrets, barricades, deployable power generators and deployable shield generators(Decreased incoming damage). Weapons would be dual-wielded blasters.

jaytdasme
Im pretty sure they covered every significant "class" archetype that appears in both mainstream MMOs and Star Wars lore. Tho i still am a little bummed out the factions are mirrors. Be nice if they were varied beyond visual asthetics.. but w.e. im aware how complicated this would make the game so i get it. maybe making some Hybrid Advanced classes? Maximizing versatility and skill play, having a scoundrel that could have cover benefits like a slinger or a knight with a couple sage powers would be pretty dope.
