The Two Sons of Dantooine

Da’Vid and Ventorus were born on Dantooine (3668 BBY) to two relatively unremarkable farmers. Early on Da'Vid's force sensitivity began to manifest. Ventorus began displaying an aptitude in the force by the age of three and was able to naturally channel it into simple things like lifting sticks or playing tricks on his dad by levitating his tools when he was trying to fix something. By the age of five Da’Vid had already shown tremendous aptitude in the force but he lacked training. His parents requested the help of the Jedi after Da’Vid had accidentally destroyed his bedroom wall while he was trying to levitate a rock. The Jedi had sent Knight Satele Shan to pass judgment on the boys, she was impressed with their power and immediately requested the Jedi take them in. Their parents refused to let them leave Dantooine so the Jedi made a compromise. A Jedi Master by the name of Zen Loc, a Zabrak and a hermit living on Dantooine, offered to train them in the ways of the Jedi they would not be forced to leave. Both the Jedi and their parents accepted.

The two spent the next ten years training under Master Loc. Ventorus wasn’t completely satisfied with the training he was getting compared to his brother. He felt he was stronger than Da’Vid and therefore more deserving of the attention. Master Zen Loc would do his best to teach both of them evenly but Da’Vid was more accepting of the Jedi Code than Ventorus so his attention tended to favor him over Ventorus. Ventorus grew envious of Da’Vid but he didn’t hate him. He still believed he was more powerful and often sought opportunities to prove himself against his brother. He would hit harder during sparring to prove his strength, something Master Loc wasn’t appreciative of and often scolded him for, telling him “A Jedi only fights as a last resort.” to which Ventorus would scoff at. He never had much interest in learning the history or purpose of a Jedi. He was more concerned with controlling his abilities. He preferred actions over words.

Over the next ten years of their training Ventorus grew more powerful and was very skilled when it came to combat. Master Loc finally gave in to Ventorus’ requests to teach him more saber forms but on the condition he would meditate more and put a focus on patience as well. Ventorus was far better with a saber than Da’Vid and it was starting to show when they’d spar. Before Da’Vid would come out on top nine times out of ten, now Ventorus is slowly taking the lead in their weekly bouts. He felt ready for anything and soon his skills would be put to the test.

One unfortunate night, in pursuit of Master Dar’Nala, Darth Baras and Darth Angrel with a contingent of Sith troopers attacked the small settlement. Master Loc, Da’Vid, and Ventorus did their best to fend them off but Master Loc was mortally wounded, as were Da’Vid’s parents who were caught in the crossfire. Baras was poised to strike down Da’Vid and Ventorus but was stopped by Angrel who said they needed to get moving. Baras spoke as he turned away “I feel they will both become integral to this war in the future.” to which Angrel responded with “We have more important matters than your feelings.” They then walked off never to be seen again.

The two, beaten and bruised, stayed with their fallen master. Ventorus was angry and spent hours pacing around the leveled house he once called home, while Da’Vid sat and meditated. Ventorus grew angry at the fact that he wasn’t strong enough to stop them. He felt weak for the first time in a long time and he felt lost. Da'Vid however felt calm, albeit saddened by the loss of his master and parents. A short while later they began to hear footsteps. Da’Vid continued meditating while Ventorus drew his practice saber without hesitation and stood ready to fight. Da’Vid told his brother that he shouldn’t be so quick to attack. Sure enough the person responsible for the footsteps was none other than Satele Shan, who had just finished foiling a conspiracy with her former Master and both the Darths. Ventorus lowered his practice saber while Da’Vid rose to his feet. Satele, taken aback by the destruction at first, quickly ran over to the boys. She checked them for injuries and made sure they were okay before offering them a bit of peace by reciting the last line of the Jedi Code. “There is no death, there is only the Force.” She then escorted the boys to her shuttle and took them to a Jedi Sanctuary to finish their training while she set off on her own journey to find the Jedi home world, Tython.

Da’Vid focused on letting go of his emotions and the events that put him on his path. He focused on learning the ways of the Jedi and dedicated himself to becoming a Knight. He excelled at everything from knowledge, to combat, to accepting the Jedi Code as his way of life. He strove for peace and committed himself to the Light Side of the force. Ten years later, at the age of twenty-five, he would receive the call to go to Tython to complete his trials and become a Jedi Knight.

Ventorus struggled to let go of his failure. He would grow more angry as each day passed. He looked to his brother for guidance and would often be talked out of acting on his emotions. Da’Vid was worried about Ventorus and feared he may turn to the Dark side. Ventorus assured him that he had nothing to worry about, he was angry but he still knew right from wrong and that he was committed to the Light side. As time went on Ventorus grew more distant from his brother and he never felt at home within the Jedi. He devised a plan to destroy the Empire from within and exact revenge on the man who killed his parents. Knowing full well the Jedi wouldn’t allow it, he left. After nine years in the Jedi Sanctuary he headed for Imperial territory in hopes of being caught and proving himself worthy of becoming a Sith. After being captured and then ultimately besting his captors, the Sith took him in. Shortly thereafter he was brought to Korriban by the request of Overseer Tremmel to complete his trials and become a Sith.
