Event: The Grand Acquisitions Race

Does anyone remember an event from back in the day called The Grand Aquisitions Race mainly on Nar Shaddaa?

It was for the Chevin if I recall and had some fun stuff in it like Protocol Droid races. If this event is still done and in the game, then it shouldn’t take much to update it and offer something many players didn’t get to see. Even if the event just comes once a year it would be something new for most players.

I would like to suggest the return of this event.

Who’s with me on this one?

I don’t remember it having to do with the Gree, but that makes sense. I recall a protocol droid race in the Promanade where you are racing your droid against a Hutt’s droid and the Hutt has cheating some how. I also remember a Hagnoffari pet for completing the event missions.

The event was a lot of fun. Just like the original Rakghoul event on Tatooine.

I was impressed how friendly everyone lined up on the promenade for the droid race, imps and reps next to each other, waiting patiently for their turn. :)

I understand both events were intended as one-time-events, but I always hoped for them to come back. What a waste of good content that is already available in-game. It would give people something to do. For many, it would be even new content.

Ok yeah NOW I remember the droid race! The three coloured tracks and there was some kind of electric zapper on the track.

Codex for the event (in spoilers because long):

Governing the Chevin homeworld of Vinsoth, the Chevin Conglomerate is a pervasive presence in the galactic underworld, with connections to mercenary groups, Hutts, slavers and other undesirables. However, unlike the Hutts, the businesslike Chevin remain at a distance from the conflict between the Republic and the Sith Empire, as their military might is negligible. The announcement of their Grand Acquisitions Race brought the Chevin into the spotlight, as they offered unmatched riches and power in return for a number of strange items their own agents had been unable to find.

As fortune-seekers and adventurers across the galaxy sought these curiosities, both the Republic and the Empire became curious about the Chevin Conglomerate’s motives. Soon the truth was revealed: the items being gathered were intended as a tribute to buy the favor of the Gree, one of the most ancient species in the galaxy. Through their contacts, the Chevin learned that a Gree fleet is returning to known space, bringing not only the normally isolationist aliens but their legendary technology.

Although believed to be non-hostile, the Gree discovered hyperspace travel untold ages ago; a single piece of Gree technology is considered an irreplaceable treasure. For centuries, their influence has been felt only through their emissaries. The reason for their fleet’s return is unknown.

The original Rakghoul event was to prelude the return of the rakghoul plague to the galaxy at large and open the way for the current rakghoul event. Lore-wise it wouldn't really make sense for either the Grand Acquisitions Race or the original Rakghoul even to return. The Chevin already have their stuff and the Gree fleet has returned; the rakghoul plague has been reintroduced and pops up on a few planets approximately every month. They could re-name and re-purpose the events to be recurring though.

Good input and thanks for the Codex, it has been forever.

Re-purposing some stuff from the events would be cool. Like incorporate the droid race into the Nar Shaddaa Casino event or something.
