Why we dont have Flashpoint finder system?

Recommended Posts

What happens with a system like that, is people join a group and see that a couple of the players are useless, leave the group and re-queue. But then those sucky players cry about that, so they add something like a debuff to force people to stay or they can't queue for X amount of time. So then you are forced to play with people you don't want to.

The LFD system in wow removed the need for people to even talk to each other. Wow now doesn't even feel like an MMO, but a 3d chat lobby with some instant-action games. Cross server groups is also part of why it's community is now so bad.

Cause socializing won't kill you. I think it's hilarious that people whine it's not a social game and then whine for a system that has killed socializing in the game that created it.

Tor could use a better lfg system, I don't think a random finder system is the perfect answer though. If you want a social experience, socialize. Generally that claim is actually just a cheap cop out to get a system to do it all for you so you don't have to socialize though.

Well to be honest, we all know instancing is the number one killer of community in game, and I didn't see a lot of people arguing to make this an open world game with its dungeons.

Once you go the instanced rout you should just go ahead and do the lfd thing because after that there's no one talking outside of their guilds really. A good portion of people even turn off the zone wide chat channels. The barrens chat, so to speak.

I won't join a guild unless i play with them for a long while, can't play with any for a while in small segmented instanced dungeons where we all split up after 20 minutes.

I seem to have no problems finding a group within a few minutes - either asking to be invited or just randomly start inviting others to join.

What I have noticed are people wanting specific classes in their group [ie: Agent DPS for example]. This is NOT that other MMO where you need specific classes to succeed in a Heroic. Those groups do typically take a lot longer to fill...

The current LFG tool - there is one annoying problem - there is not enough space for the description. "Looking for m...." or "Just got here, w". I have no idea how to tell what they are LFG for. :)

I just wonder if most people don't know how to use the LFG tool or are use to an automated system that they use in other MMO's which allows them to avoid forming any "friends" lists.

I wonder if a default LFG area chat channel [not server wide - that would be abused] is necessary? I do see a lot of other chat spam going on and it's sometimes easy to miss "LFG" requests.

I would like to add - before the "fleet space stations" - it was A LOT easier to find a group for the 1st flashpoint - you arrived on the station, acquired the quest, walked a few meters, and found yourself in front of the flashpoint entrance. That made a lot more sense than it is now.

Of course there should be a LFG/Dungeon Finder. All the people saying it's ruining the socializing in the game are disassociated with reality.

It became a huge boon when it was added to WoW because it eliminated the single most annoying thing about running instances, namely finding people to do it with.

I was so ecstatic they had it on the launch of Rift, I was even more ecstatic when it actually started to work.

I find it annoying that Bioware couldn't learn from the mistakes/successes of other MMO's. Blizzard already almost completely fails in this respect. The thing is, if I am forced to post messages in game for 10 hours to run instances, then after I max level a few characters that will be the end of the use of this game for me and a lot of other people.

On my server I haven't had a problem finding groups for flashpoints. Its too early in the game to set this up. Servers need to populate and mature for a bit. A lot of MMO's wont ship with a LFG for dungeons/instances. Joining a guild is an easy solution if you cant find people.

Totally agree.

Most of the time people are looking for the same one as me when I go to pop it in General Chat, hence pretty easy to find groups.

Its called join a guild and run with guild mates

/thread

This is not an actual solution because unless the guild is massive, it tends to still be quite a chore to find a group of people on the same level or are interested in running the same instance. It shouldn't take a week to set up a run through an instance only to not get what you wanted to get out of the instance.

Because this is a single player RPG trying to pretend its a MMO!

the lack of socialising in this game is horrid and hte very reason I wont be around come the end of the free month- they more then welcome to keep the fanbois! :)

star wars fans never been ones to socialise though.

Really?

Don't you know? Going into general and spamming LFM for hours is "socializing" and "builds server community." Something that any sort of flashpoint finder system destroys.

/sarcasm

Very true! Ironically enough I have made better friends playing in three heroics than I ever could with hundreds of premade parties. Also every party I made on this game we've really needed only a healer.

Honestly LFG in chat really requires social skills and to be able to ask the same people days later "Hey man... I need help!." and they are happy to is quite rewarding. We don't need that lazy tool

Everyone who complains really is looking for instant gratification and Easy mode. I like a challenge.

Dear Bioware,

Please do not ever implement a "Looking for Flashpoint" feature.

Signed,

Players who actually want to enjoy the game

Every MMO that has ever implemented something or changed mechanics because people complained about it being "Too Hard" has then eventually fallen. Star Wars Galaxies' NGE, almost every change that came to WoW, certain things in Rift, etc., etc. Although EA is a company that cares ownly about money and sales Bioware is not. If you are here asking for Bioware to implement something to simply aid you in not having to do some work, it means that you will always be asking for more and more. This game is Star Wars: The Old Republic, not what ever game it is you want it to be. If something is not here and you want it because it was in your previous MMO, please go back to that MMO.

As far as I can tell, it only works for the zone you're in and is therefore useless. I completely agree that we need a FP finder system, even if its just a chat channel (and all the spam that entails).

BW is really going too far to keep this game on the rails, to the point of really diminishing the MMO atmosphere. I'm playing this with my guild from Rift and it doesn't feel different from when we played Skyrim together. We're all just having a single-player experience and telling each other about it.

It does work on other planents too - people should actually use the tool instead of whining all day at the forums. So far I had no problems finding a group.

So to socialise for you means that you sit at IF, UC or SW hitting the queue button every now and then to be ported into a dungeon with 4 robot like acting people, who never speak except when they show their dps meter?

Wow dude, thats really just wow....

I ****** hated this system when they implemented it. Teleporting to the dungeons and crap like that is terrible - i cant count how many people had no idea where are the actual entrances of the ICC dungeons (for example). As someone else said earlier - find a guild. The only thing that i would like to see is, lets say, a chat channel with all the people for a certain flashpoint.

And to be honest, I dont like that im able to queue for a warzone from everywhere (and i get ported back to where i was).

Oh man, removing the warzone system as it is now and implementing Battle Master type people the way WoW did it when they first launched Battlegrounds would be AMAZING. Bioware, please do this.

I'm level 11 on my imperial agent and have only played with 1 other person after asking for help with 2 flashpoints.

Lack of LFG tool is killing my enjoyment of this game. Flashpoints are a nice way to break up the rather monotonous grind, which no amount of voice acting will fix btw.

A way to port people straight to the flashpoint would be good too. The game already has quick travel technology, so there's no immersion breaking going on.

Blatantly copy the looking for group system from Dungeons and Dragons Online. It is the best one I've ever seen in a MMO and unless it is somehow patented and/or EA is afraid of Hasbro it could be implemented easily without affected game mechanics.

We Don't have to wait for bioware to give us basic LFG tool's they are already in the game.

Everyone who is interested for your servers. right click the general tab > hit create custom chat channel > LFG

Let's bring these server's together and get this game rolling.

these chat channels will span all worlds you can then search for groups wherever you are.

That is a great option but still we need a FP FINDER

>Claim game needs moar socialization

>Demand raid finder that requires no socialization

So do people just not think before they post, or what?

Agreed,

I've never had any issues with getting groupos for anything bar the odd 4 man heroic quest.

We don't need/want LFG, as the only upside of it is efficiency.

How is a raidfinder detrimental to socialization via not being lazy?

Easy.

I post LFG Blablabla. After a very small wait, someone will send me a whisper. I will generally communicate with this person and soon enough we get a group rolling with people communicating back and forth. We talk, we chat, we wait together for other people to join in.

Once ready, we go about our business. Coordinate and take down the enemies and ultimately pass whatever heroic/flashpoint we happen to be doing.

I have come away from this with friends, gotten to know people, and have actually been invited to guilds. I have experienced a bad player once, whom I promptly booted from the group.

Raidfinder?

Press queue. Jump up and down. Get tossed in a party. Do not speak to anyone. Promptly leave once completed. Queue. Jump up and down.

Yeah, there is no difference. Not at all.

I am ok with a LFG tool that forms a party as long as it is NOT CROSS SERVER EVER.

I want to know when I get thrown into a group of (insert insult) so I can end the suffering before it starts.

With cross server you don't know any of the players or how they play.

If it is only on your server you can say "oh yeah..these two guys are (insert insult) I'm not spending an hour with them. /leave

In the end that is why so many people from WoW need a dungeon finder. No one will group with them otherwise.

But it's not fair to everyone else to have them forced upon them by a cross server LFD tool which makes it impossible to tell good from bad.
