Tenacity
This is quite the work in progress, but for the past couple of months I've been planning out a mandalorian costume for next year's comicon (this will be the second one I've been to, the first in over 10 years, but my brother goes every year and has cosplayed the flash, arrow, green lantern, the joker, and kylo ren). So far I've only got the base gauntlets and initial jetpack made. I'm waiting on the delivery of sintra to make the rest of the armor, and I still need to get ahold of the soft parts - flight suit, flak vest, gloves, boots, etc. I have all the patterns cut out though. (FYI, sintra is a type of expanded core PVC sheeting used for a lot of hard cosplay items, as it can be easily cut and shaped with a heat gun but remains rigid and durable when cooled). Here's what I've got for the gauntlets and jetpack so far - the gauntlets are made from 4" pvc pipe cut to fit my arms and connected with piano hinge. I still need to build the flamethrower/wrist rockets and such for the gauntlets, as well as the clasps to keep them closed around the arm, but for now they're already looking and feeling pretty boss: The Gauntlets: https://i.imgur.com/ejqAtGg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/keby1j2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VisrGFz.jpg The jetpack: https://i.imgur.com/OAg6bgU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/N3Y0Hmq.jpg The jetpack is made entirely from scrap and junk parts, including a ceiling fan motor housing, supply line wall insert, various plumbing parts, and scrap PVC from the gauntlet build. Still considering adding a rocket or air intake to the top of it. Concept art for the armor: https://i.imgur.com/wZd7oBv.png Not sure about my color scheme yet, that'll be decided once I get the flight suit, gloves, etc. Here's the patterns, cut out of heavy stock paper, to trace onto the sintra sheets once i get them: https://i.imgur.com/FubQg5s.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CXZyfOe.jpg More will be posted as the project continues. Tenacity
Update! I've been up entirely too long tonight working away at my armor plates, and the base plates are almost all cut and shaped. I still have to do the trauma plating tomorrow, but this is starting to look like the real deal: https://i.imgur.com/m8tgCE8.jpg Edited August 4, 2018 by Tenacity

Tenacity
More work done on the gauntlets, added my flamethrowers and fuel lines. Still have plenty of room left for the other gadgets that will be attached to these things, including some switches/knobs and a mini computer screen (may or may not be functional, lol): https://i.imgur.com/84Bc0II.jpg https://i.imgur.com/k1bJeXl.jpg

OfficerDonNZ
Impressive stuff. The question is though have you made a helmet? Can't be a true Mando without the tin lid Won't be easy.

I plan to buy the helmet, it's too important a piece to try and do by hand especially when I've never made one before. Going to go with the NME props assassin helmet, here: https://www.nmeprops.com/product-page/the-assassin
Lunafox
That's a lot of work, but it looks amazing so far. I look forward to seeing what it all will look like when it's done. Awesome stuff!

The price made my eyes water. though considering what I'm spending on Bandai's 1/72 Millennium Falcon I can't talk.

The price made my eyes water. though considering what I'm spending on Bandai's 1/72 Millennium Falcon I can't talk. So far, not even including the helmet, I've probably spent around 100-200$ on this project. That's not counting the vest (probably 50$), flightsuit (no idea, probably 50-100$), gloves and boots (easily 50-100$), upcoming costs of paint, and various other costs to add in. Once all is said and done I'll probably have invested like 500-600$ easily into this. However, these kinds of outfits also end up being worth 3000-6000$ to the right collector, people pay huge money for cosplay stuff like this, not that I'll ever sell it - but I figure I'm getting my money's worth. Tenacity
Well instead of buying a vest outright (which was 50-80$ for the best ones I could find and they still werent ideal), I ended up buying a couple yards of duck cloth and I'm just going to make it myself. Probably cut up an old tshirt to use as a pattern, we'll see how it turns out. Got the paint tonight too, going to hopefully have time saturday to paint the plates with the silver undercoat and black top coat. Not sure on a secondary color yet. OfficerDonNZ
New album, got the paint mostly done at this point: https://imgur.com/a/RRRmjLm Very cool. Yes it could do with a coat of satin or matt varnish of some sort, though most tend to yellow with age so try and find a finish that doesn't. Also some light weathering wouldn't hurt ether like paint chips, scuffs that kind of thing.
