I have now again run into this bug. This type of bonus series bug blocks mission progress on Taris, Balmorra and Belsavis and it has been reported by hundreds of people since 2012! It's absurd that, despite some CS representative acknowledging the bug, it is still not fixed! @Eric Community Manager, can you please let us know if this is being fixed in an upcoming patch?

This is one of the oldest problems in game. Why is this still not addressed when so many people reported it. It is very annoying to have a story driven game with story broken with bugs like this. This is not what we pay for.

Still don`t understand why they didn`t fix it. What`s worse not only Taris bonus series can be uncompletable but all, cause if you reset or abandon bonus series whenever they are, they become locked with no progress to gain. I wonder how they should repair it: the quest already done should auotmatically progress or like in planetary story quest speak with guy of such quest and steer to next if his quest is already done. Pther thing what I consider is maybe with other player who hasn`t already done bonus series do then in group. But i don`t know if that way is possible. Has anyone tried something like that?

Again no sign. Will they ever fix it?

It's on low priority, and higher priority bugs keep being added so the low ones never get in front of the line.

OK. To one and all wanting to report that this is still a bug:

How should it be fixed?

There are plenty of ways to structure a fix that will prevent it from affecting new characters (the list below is a list of *alternatives*, not a list of all the things that must be done):
* The Bonus Series missions are not available until the player has the Bonus Series "Umbrella" mission active and has been tasked to do a mission for persons X, Y, Z, and W. At this point, X, Y, Z, and W would become active mission-givers.
* Alternatively, if the player has already done X's mission when he gets tasked to do a mission for X, Y, Z, and W, then he automatically gets credit for having done X's mission. (See below for a reason why this one is better.)

Neither of these schemas addresses characters who have already made things worse by abandoning the mission. It doesn't *inherently* help people who have done X's mission and then taken the Bonus Series, and when they see that they cannot get a mission from X, just untracked it and moved on. Fixing these two groups is liable to be tricky, especially the ones who abandoned it and re-took it.

Obviously, without knowing the internals of the Taris (etc.) planet codebase, we out here in Forumland cannot offer real analysis, but we can at least think about how it could be made to work.

Perhaps, in the end, it will be least fraught if they simply say that:
* For all characters who have already begun the Bonus Series and have not been touched by the bug, because they didn't speak to X, Y, Z, or W until after, they will not be affected by the fix because they are not affected by the bug.
* For all characters, whether already existing or in the future, who have not yet taken even once the Bonus Series Umbrella mission, they will be covered by the automatic-credit option of the two specified above.
* For all characters that have already begun the Bonus Series in a bugged way, they can be treated on a case-by-case basis on application using a CS ticket.

The simplest solution, however, but probably not the most universally welcome, would be simply to clear ALL Bonus Series Missions (both Umbrella AND Component) from the mission logs (in the wide sense that includes the big list of missions already completed by a character) of ALL characters on ALL servers. If this is done, then either of the two "for the future" solutions would be feasible. Note that it would undoubtedly be best if they don't try to "reclaim" the XP / credits / items rewarded by "cleared" missions.

Note: there is precedent for having missions be cleared. When the missions were reorganised for 4.0, the missions that became "Exploration" missions were cleared in peoples completed-mission logs. One of my Jedi actually gained the last XP required to get from level 64 to 65 by doing (again) one of Liam Dentiri's training-droid missions on Tython.

I suspect these missions were cleared because the Exploration missions weren't just updated existing missions, but new missions that looked identical except for the "Exploration" type, but whatever. They could introduce a new mission type: Bonus Series Missions, and clone the existing missions into that new type, then delete the old ones. Job done. ("Bonus Series Component Missions" would be unavailable without the Bonus Series Umbrella Mission for that planet, of course, and their status as *NEW* missions would inherently solve the problem for everyone.)
