Packofsmokes
I was playing/ watching star wars this weekend and noticed that all of the mon calamari speak perfect english.... for some reason to me this doesnt make sense as most other alien species have their own language. Anyone know why they speak english instead of squid?
Wannablessedbe
Admiral Ackbar spoke fluent, if somewhat accented, Galactic Standard (what we viewers hear as English)... Only a few races never speak Standard (Wookiees lack the vocal equipment for it, for example), most can become fluent if they feel like it. patoman
Sometimes the head tails speak English, sometimes their own language. I think in game and movie I think a factors are 1. Biologically if they can speak it; wookies can only speak wookie, how the hell others learn their language is beyond me, some aliens might be like that, others might be able to use vocal cords or other methods to speak English. So you can't realy guage if you know if a think can or can't unless you really know its biology. one Fish/octopus guy can, one furball can't other furball different type may be able to. 2. culturally if they want to, apparently most humans who normally speak English can understand a ridiculous number of alien languages, so they can speak whatever they are comfortable with, so they speak alien speak. Humans doing this that's a feat greater then the best currently on earth considering these are alien languages spoken by species that are not human. Han solo can converse casually with a hutt, and a wookie, and who knows how many other languages. Edited December 19, 2011 by patoman
