ElevenBfour
Hardest class to master in pvp? I play a Jugg tank because after tanking end game with a PT and Shadow, they aren't challenging enough for me. I'm not wanting to sound elitest or anything, I just get bored playing easier classes is all. I always have in MMO's. Thanks.
bbare
Play an arsenal merc. Arsenal Merc is still more effective than a pvp full tank Edited February 9, 2013 by bbare

wombinator
You can be the best arsenal merc ever in the world and still get stomped by almost any other class(the guy playing it has to be only decent to beat you). I think the hardest class to master is a Sniper. Once your very good at one, you can become almost unstoppable(especially against melee, you laugh at smash tards). Yeah it's easy to play a Sniper, but once you fully utilize everything they have you are the best ranged dps in the game hands down. I have a Sniper (and have also been beaten many a time by a Sniper when I was otherwise) and if left unchecked, they can be a force to be reckoned with... However their greatest strength is also their "Achilles Heel", if you will. Knock a Sniper out of cover and stun when cc breaker is on cd and watch him squirm as he can do nothing about it. Let him be and watch as you get hit for 5k+ consistently (my personal best was 7.8k way back in early 1.5). Tip though: don't rush a sniper blindly and with no assistance. They have 1 distance root (30m), 1 melee stun (4m), their knockback/stun (10m knockback to 15-25m if specced right), and possibly another knockback if they spec into the knockback for Ambush (15m knockback). If they know their rotation, you will be down below 40% before you can even land a single hit on them. Edited February 9, 2013 by LHRFreak
PoliteAssasin
You're all wrong, there is no class that's harder to learn than the other. That is all dependent on the individual.

Aluvi
There are no hard classes to pvp with and be good. All MMOs have a very low skill ceiling for play. That is what attracts so many bad players to them. There is next to no multitasking, a small haldful of cooldowns to watch, and a priority system to follow for your abilities. Aside from that, you have 7 other AC's to think about for what they can do to counter you. That is extremely easy to learn. This game, and most mmos, don't require you to have skill. They just require you to not be a complete moron.

The knowledge base requirement is really low and the execution is pretty much non-existent. If you can't get a class to work well it's likely because it's just not an effective class. Everything is so limited in this game, there aren't really any esoteric concepts to master and utilize. There's a trinity system in place and then really only one way to deal damage effectively. Either your class can burst or it can't for DPS, that's pretty much it.

In no particular order: Arsenal Merc, but that's mostly because the class is so bad as it currently is (lethality ops by a similar token) Deception Assassin. LOTS of things to keep track of and use in the chaos of a WZ Lightning Sorcerer. The king of kiting, but hard to play effectively. and of course... Scrapper Scoundrel. Tons of abilities, mobility dependent, high damage/low survivability: A true glass cannon.
ElevenBfour
Thanks for all the replies. I have much to think about. I would love to play an Arsenal Merc(actually the trooper equivalent) or a stealthy Smuggler or Agent. I tried a concealment OP once, I only got him to 28 but I felt like it wasn't very fluid and that's why I didn't keep going with it. Maybe I didn't play him long enough. Pyro merc is tons of fun. LoS-dance, cleanses, drop AoE DoT combos on groups and finish off weakened enemies with timed delayed blasts+RS=>Unload=>RS combos. Not hard to play per say, but takes a lot of patience and situational awareness to position yourself to avoid exposing yourself while maintaining maximum threat zone of your own. They are the ones who can effectively triage, bounce back and forth between damage and healing as necessary and know when to sacrifice themselves and when not to. The amount of information you -can- process to be optimal as a healer is everything happening on the battlefield.
mulzii
easiest is the PT/vanguard, hands down. very few skills to manage, but designed well so all the skills 'flow', easy heat management, and massive single target damage. They are good from lvl 10 right through to 50 and beyond. hardest, or rather, more micro-managing to me is OP/scoundrel (concealment not healing). You really have to manage your defensive cooldowns, ccs and burst. they dont get their pvp skills to lvl36, and if their target doesnt die through their opener, they have to kite well, and use coolsdowns perfectly. And there energy management is a bit difficult to master if your opener doesnt kill the target. You could argue madness sorc at 50 or even a nondarkness sin, both of who does rock when mastered, but they have soo many skills/procs/etc that theres a steep learning curve to get to that point (and the sorc is squishy). Arsenal/pyro mercs are easy to learn skillwise, they just die in pvp whether the player behind them is good, poor or god-like.

ktkenshinx
if you think lightning sorcs are good at kiting you must have never run into a madness sorc. now theres the king of kiting. That's probably true against other classes, but against a Scrapper (my main class), I definitely have less trouble with a Madness Sorc than a Lightning Sorc. The full 31 investment in Madness excludes Sorcs from BOTH Bubble Stun and Electric Bindings, which are the two biggest problems for me as a Scrapper. The 0+/17+/17+ Spec, with insta cast Whirlwind, Bubble Stun, AND Electric Bindings is way scarier than just Creeping Terror (in my experience). And before someone gets cute and counters with "Well you must not have played against any good Madness/Lightning Sorcs", I can assure you that our server has more than enough skilled and geared Sorcs to go around. All that said, I would add Madness Sorc to the list of classes that is challenging (And rewarding) to play. I just wouldn't call it the king of kiting (maybe queen?) relative to the Lightning builds with Bindings and Bubble Stun.
