SpizzSpit
So, I want to get into PVP since it's ALWAYS been a dead-zone in any MMO, but I'm a bit clueless on any "ins and outs." Anything specific I need to do or work towards to get a good PVP DPS build? P.S. I know that some of the game's stats have been altered to simplify it. (I.E. the addition of the Mastery stat and it now being the primary stat for DPS.)
Fouly
Dipending on class and spec for finetunig there are a few general things u can keep in mind for any dps-spec! Aim for ~43% crit(bit more wont hurt but after that you really need to stack it to get an increase so other stats bring more gain in my opinion). Accuracy isnt needed in pvp but if you play a class with active off-hand(for example Mara or merc) a bit might come in handy but i would not go over 105%. Accuracy stim is sufficient but to be honest i dont really feel a difference between runnung 0% acc or 105%. The Rest of your tertiary stats i generally put into alacrity, for my personal taste ~10% is good to have but for some specs especially carnage or any dot specs you would linke to have more! Try to play around a bit with alacrity/AP/mastery. If you have higher latency or not AS much fps i'd take a little less alacrity and stack into power because you wont be able to make full use of your higher possible apm through alacrity. Hope this helps a little
Purgamentorum
Start off in the regs, learn how certain attacks and heals buff your defences and next attacks. Learn what skills give cc immunity. This comes from reading your skill tree. Very important but so many don't do it. Pick utilities that give you find you most need in a wz, these are probably different to the ones you would choose for an op. Learn to LOS. If you aren't seen you can't be hit. Buy some augs and get a stim, now you can compare your numbers to those of others. Play till you feel confident that you can anticipate other classes and specs next moves and you can win most 1v1 situations. Now you can play ranked. Compete for a few seasons of ranked get fed up of the win trading and toxic atmosphere, realise that ranked is about people standing in aoe and not moving. Get really annoyed about Fotm classes and none of this matters because a sorc healer will make sure it ends in acid, roll a sorc healer and develop you timings to phase walk push and bubble at acid, win 90% of games because sorc has the only skills that matter if your team doesn't just stand there trading dps. Go back to regs and wonder why it has so few maps and the 2 latest ones are the most poorly thought out.
Banderal
I know you asked specifically about build for DPS, but I would like to comment about expectations. If you haven't done PvP at all, then I think you will be amazed at the pace. It is a billion times faster than any PvE that I've done (admittedly, I've done little PvE outside of the initial story stuff). And you will die. A lot. Don't fret it. Everyone dies in PvP. Sometimes (and always when they started) a lot. Your rotation, that you know perfectly from PvE? Think of it more like the pirate code, it's really a set of guidelines in PvP. Because the guys you are fighting against (if they are good), also know your rotation, and will actively try to shut it down on you. Also expect to have no idea what's going on in some of them. The scoring in AHG, no on understands that, not even the devs (actually it's been figured out, but it way needlessly complicated). Huttball will probably seem impossible the first time you play it. If you've already gotten beyond all those points, then "never mind". Also, if you put here what class/spec you like to play, you will probably get more detailed responses. And do some searches, there have been some recent threads, for example, on the various mara/sentinel specs, and others, about how to get the most out of them. orangenee
Forget most of what you know from PvE. I stepped into PvP for the first time a couple of weeks ago, suffice to say "baptism of fire" doesn't come close. It is in no way nub friendly. Also make sure you're geared up so you don't get yelled at as much. Don't even look near ranked for a while. I did for a giggle.........it was not a giggle.
