Every time we changed leadership of the group the leader would get the bug. You could tell because when they were out of group they still had the little Phase option to reset all instances. We could consistently pass the bug between us, by passing leadership of the group.

So I passed the bug to my teammate and then logged out, created a new character, let him pass the bug to that new character and then deleted the him. Bye-bye bug. For a step by step follow below.

1. Identify who has the bug: they will have a phase option when right clicking on their picture.
2. Someone else needs to create a new character.
3. Person with the bug invites that new character to group
4. Pass leadership to the new character
5. leave that group
6. verify that the phase option is gone from everyone but the new character
7. delete the new character and the bug
8. log back into your main character
9. re-group and have fun

This took a while to figure out so hopefully it saves someone else some time.
I will have to give this a shot. My main toon has not been able to log into ANY flashpoint for 4 days now. I keep getting the phase needs to be reset message when zoning in, even if I am solo. Their customer support is useless, they didn't even answer my ticket collecting dust for those 4 days now.

My quest log is pretty bare, only a couple pvp/space daily quests and my storyline are in there. I've tried resetting the phases, dropping all but my storyline quest, picking back up the flashpoint quests and resetting them, having others zone into the FP and then try to invite me, nothing seems to work.

This is a major game breaking bug when you cannot even log into a FP solo!

It is working, we had this issue the other day. This method fixes it every time.

I would just like to confirm that the solution by hammerhanded worked for my group as well. Thanks for posting this work-around!

I tried the various solutions none worked for me.

Questions:

Do I remove the bugged quest before doing the bugremoval or stay on it?

Remove it all?

Do I need to stay outside or inside a phase when passing leaderhip to the other person?

In fact, is anybody able to post a really thourough describtion?

This bug is ruining the game for me right now

To fix it I dropped all my flashpoints after I reset them all in the mission window, relogged and then was able to get into the flashpoint myself. Problem is if anyone else in the party is bugged it just bugs me again.

2 epic necros to this thread.

How to solve if leader resetting doesn't work:
-Drop group.
-Everyone drop all active FP quests.
-Everyone reset phases.
-Regroup.

Can a mod please lock this thread now.

This bug continues to exist, and we are now in patch 5.0.

Special thanks to all of the people who contributed workarounds for this annoying problem. By now, the thread has generated the following information about the bug and its workarounds:

PROBLEM: Error message when attempting to enter a flashpoint. (Different instance of flashpoint or different level of flashpoint is already active.)

CAUSE: Abandoning a flashpoint mission while it is underway will apparently bug the flashpoint so that you cannot reset it properly.

SOLUTION:

(Solo Mode)
1. Enter the last flashpoint you were able to enter. (If your problem involves a change of difficulty level, pick the difficulty level you were using the last time you were inside the flashpoint.)
2. Right-click on your portrait and select "Reset all active phases." This resets everything except your current flashpoint because there are people (you) inside it. This will work out the bug on the side of the flashpoint phase.
3. Exit the flashpoint.
4. Go to your Mission Log and find the flashpoint mission. Select "Reset" from the mission options. This will work out the bug on the side of the flashpoint mission. (You may have to wait on the cooldown to reset the mission.)
5. If you have followed the previous steps properly, there is no longer any option to reset either the phase or the mission. That being true, it is time to abandon the flashpoint mission itself.

You should now be able to pick up the flashpoint mission and/or enter the flashpoint as though for the first time.

(Group Mode)
The group mode solution is similar to the solo mode fix except that you have two other things to consider. The first is that you don't know who in the group may be bugged. The second is that this bug will transfer to whomever becomes leader of the group. For those two reasons, a different approach may be used.

1. Identify who has the bug. This will be the person who has right-click-portrait-reset-phase option. Promote this person to Leader (if he or she is not already).
2. Someone else needs to create a new character.
3. The person with the bug invites that new character to group
4. Once that new (expendable) character has joined the group, the bugged leader passes leadership to that new character
5. Everyone leaves the group.
6. Verify that the "reset phase" option is missing from everyone except the new character. If so, then you have succeeded in transferring the bug to the new character.
7. Take great joy in deleting the now-bugged character with prejudice.

Everyone in your group should now be bug-free and ready to have fun.

If some else posted this fix then good for them, delete this file "DiskCacheArena" located in this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor. This is my fallback fix for all problems, with instances. All group members have to do this.
