So when I bought my stronghold it gave me a bunch of things. But I can't use them. I'm so lost as to why. Can anyone give me an answer as to why I can't use these.

Since we don't know what you did with them, it's hard to say, so first, some basics:

 

- If the decorations are still in your inventory, you can't use them until you right-click on them to add them to your deco "collection". (Until you do that, you can still trade them with other players, or sell them on the GTN, etc.)

- if you've done that, did you click on the "Edit" button on your screen while in your stronghold, to show the "hooks"?

- did you right-click on a "hook" to try to place a decoration there?

- did you check the deco's description to make sure it can fit on that particular size of hook?

Usually a right-click on that item should "register" that to your current set of available decorations.

 

There are decorations which require special "hook" sizes. You can't place a carpet on a "hook" that's a tiny, green square, for example. The carpet is simply too big and needs a bigger "hook".

 

The list of registered decorations is a bit confusing at first, too. You can select only "available decorations", though.

Not mentioned yet so I will mention it...you have to go into "Edit Mode".

 

When you are in your stronghold you will get an new frame in your UI. There is a button labeled "edit mode" if you click it you will then see all the "hooks" click on a hook and you will see what can placed on that hook.
