Having hard time with adds in Toborro's CY 16 HM - advice?

Hi all!

 

My guild and 3 pugs tried 16m HM TC for the first time. We were all 69s with some 72s thrown in for gear. We've done it in SM multiple times, and reviewed Dulfy's excellent guide on the HM fight. Our biggest issue was with the 2 robot add spawns after the big *** laser blast. No matter how fast we try to aggro the adds, they seem to get a few shots off before we can actually target/aggro them, and they do some hefty damage to our squishies, esp the heals. We've tried having the DPS pause for 2 seconds to let the Vanguard tank grab aggro, we've tried having the Vanguard toss AoE damage at the spawn point right before they blast down, but more often then not, it's almost like they are shooting right before they land, before we can pick up the aggro, or even target them..

 

How do people tank these adds in HM, and do they encounter simliar issues with initial aggro holding?

They target before they land and will always cast their first channel on someone. The best you can do (what we do in our guild runs) is assign someone to interrupt each one (one tick isn't so bad from the channel) and then AOE taunt to pick them up and maintain aggro on them from their. If you can't handle the minimal damage from the channel pre-interrupt you can't handle the soft enrage anyway.

Have a dedicated dps assigned to each of them the entire fight to interrupt and burn (throw in an extra aoe'er if you'd like too). Make sure they have the buff from breaking the canister (or just give them a good healer).The dps requirements on boss are low; so the add dps'ers can afford to completely ignore the boss the entire fight (until burn). That being said, they should always be in position to aggro and interrupt as soon as they spawn.

Have all your melee on the boss and all the ranged on the adds. Split the ranged into left and right side for targets and get them to interrupt the cast. Both tanks also need to maintain the buff from the cans.

 

1 tank fight - and that's overkill on the adds

You actually cant taunt them before they start firing at someone. Right as they are about to touch the ground aoe taunt. you have about a second and a half forgiveness. once you get it down you'll aggro them first everytime. Interupt the one you're targeting and tank the rest, dps can just burn. Not too bad once you do it once or twice it'll become second nature.
