Oceanic Servers plans?

Recommended Posts

Just want to find out what Bioware is planning with the oceanic servers as with the US we are experiencing a declining population which is getting worse and with the launch of GW2 soon its going to push more people away with a lack of people to play with/against.

I feel its pretty late to be bringing this up but I hope Bioware has seen this and planned already for it. I approached the RP server and feel merging the PvE and RP to a PVE-RP server would be best and also allowing transfers from the PvP server to the new amalgamation server would be a great effort at bolstering numbers and confidence in the game.

Bringing together all those who wish to continue playing will be the best effort to put confidence in those who wish to remain with this game until it finds it's feet and until the numbers start returning as so many have shown the intention of coming back at the release of new content and with the maturity of the game coming in time.

I think the 2 PVE server for oceanic regions should be merged for sure. I'm on Gav Daragon and there's very little RP going on anyway. I don't think it will change much say bringing everyone from Dalborra across to this server, nor would it put many people out if it went the other way (I think it would be "nicer" to have everyone on an RP server than a pure PVE server though so people don't feel unwelcome to RP).

I think merging of the server's is definately needed. The numbers are going to without a doubt drop when GW2 comes out and then again when PvP is introduced into D3. Merging these servers will ensure that the Australian servers will not only survive but also stay strong.

AGREED.

There would be naming issues, guild banks, and what not. However, it's a sacrifice we would have to make. I'm not sure how those RP guys will feel about it though, but I sure as hell want more GF and PvP pops going on.

personal i think all three should be merged not just the PVE-RP and PVE, it should also include the PVP.

as of late the Republic on Dalborra has had a fair amount of people from the pvp server asking what our population is like and if we would support the idea of a merge, and now it seem the roleplayers also have the same idea so why not have just one server?

i mean realy whats the pvp server going to miss out on? a gankfest every now and then?

and the roleplayers don't seem to have much roll playing going on.

personaly i don't like the idea of everyone going to the RP server i mean why should the highest population of all three (dalborra) be the ones that have to move, why can't it be the other 2 that merge with us?

EDIT:

have a look at this post too

As a member of the Oceanic PVP server, I too would love to see all three servers combined into one PVE server. It would suck a little losing the option to grief lowbies when I got bored, but most of the time I get bored because the PVP server population is so low I find times with nothing to do. At the very least they should allow servers off the PVP server to the other two servers, our population always seems to be the lowest out of the three, sitting at light when the other two are at standard.

All it would take is some organisation of world PVP events in PVP areas and it would help the PVPers get some world PVP, not that their is much incentive at the moment for world PVP anyway. It'd be an easy fix.

I see very little negatives to merging the three servers.

I agree. It wouldn't be hard to rename(catagorize? w.e) Dalborra to 'PVE-RP' if people were that adament about it and we have rpers on the PVP server, they just named their guild "RP-PVP" (Or something of the like) and I've looked at the rp server and they have a rp channel on their anway, evidently you could do the same on any other server.

I made a thread about this just a few days ago myself.

100 percent pve/pvp merge. I'd definately be okay w/ not ganking lowbies for a healthy population.

But I also thought let the RP guys have their own server. This is also 100 percent out of respect for them, cause I know as sure as **** that many players from PVE/PVP would love to troll that /1 so viciously... I couldn't see it working at all :/

as it stands several of the top guild (cake, face , gimp, mvp ect ect) on dalborra do go out of there way to have events like faceoffs and gankfests in tatooine and blackhole and even ilum, so there is no real shortage of pvp on our server

If you had moderators for the rp channel it's easy to move past, they just use the rp channel/group up and kick people who are trolling. And their is an ignore button for a reason, I mean lets be real they probably already get trolls on their server as it is. Nothing will stop trolls.

Yeah true and what not, I just honestly see it ENDLESSLY trolled.

Esp. once free2play rocks up man, I know there's gonna be trolls in general ofc. But holy shi- a f2p trolling an RP server would be a massive nightmare man. Just my personal opinion, it's way too abuse-able :/

My 2 cents only ofc, and I wouldn't personally mind at all if it was an entire merge. I just can't see it working at all.

I think a merger of the three servers is in order. I do have a query regarding those people in the customer help forums with difficulties connecting to dalborra?

I also volunteer to spend 3-4 hours a day helping encourage people to NOT troll any Roleplayers that reside on a combined server.

Oh yep XD

I do remember you now. I seriously cannot see a better future for APAC SWTOR other than a merge hey.

I'm not one for doomsday saying etc, cause I think this game has amazing potential and at times Master Dar'Nala is quite good, but honestly 90 percent of the time it's really not. But as far as APAC goes? It's kinda scary man.

The best way to solve it then would be to merge pve - pvp and let the roll players transfer if they want. But your point about f2p and trolling, same thing will happen on their server, people will roll on their server just to troll the RPers.

I think it's less of an issue then them having no one to play with because their server dies.

My only issue with them having the choice?

You could split the RP community in two thus with dribs and drabs coming onto the RP server then, so that in itself may cause it's own doom.

I think it would have to be an all or nothing option. And a heavily moderated /rpchannel.

I have absolutely no experience in a RP server but an issue that springs to mind is say for eg in a WZ. You have a premade of 4 RP'ers and a premade of 4 PVP'ers. I'm a bit of a gambling man, but eventually you'll have a situation where say the RP'ers talked in /ops with some form of RP, and the PVP'ers are like, ROFL *** IS THIS LET'S MAKE FUN OF THIS... People get ignored and that WZ goes to absolute horrible, then incites a *****torm in /1 on the fleet afterwoods.

I know this comes down to trolls being trolls, but I could see things like this happening regularly.

It'd be interesting to hear some RP'ers weigh on this debate imho.

Yes there will be trolling, its bound to happen, it already happens without the RPers, i myself do it sometimes when im bored but there is ways around it and they are all extreamly effective.

1. Privet channel- this already works wonders with out Endgame channel, it stoped the endless fpg spam

2. ignore- it's there use it, it is your best friend against trolling

3. not in General- seriously if your doing it in general your begging for it, you don't have to roleplay 24/7

4. socialise- having a guild or bunch of friends is more or less how most roleplayers choose to roleplay, rarely do they do it out in the open

5. don't get angry- getting angry just feeds the trolls, they love it when you get angry

all of this will garantee a happy peacefull experiance for anyone not just Roleplayers

and sorry if I keep saying the same thing over again, I just want the devs to see this and hopefully reply to us. =D

I should probably apologize for this too, and I probably won't stop soon, cause I'm definately certain this is the way to go for APAC.

I'd love to see a larger community around on master D but its dropping off quite sharply.

The onyl problem I see with a server merge is the fact the pvers don't want to be ganked, at all ever. While i don't have an issue with this myself it will be a technical problem (pvper shards only???)

For me the benefits of losing the ability to kill any imp i chose at will be massively outweighed by a thriving player base like Master D had at the start of xfers.

Well, I don't know if I qualify as an RPer, but I'm on Gav Daragon. There's a lot of healthy debate there between premades after WZs, and some are from RPing guilds and some aren't. As long as the chat isn't offensive, it's fine - all part of the game. And if it is offensive or trolling, it gets reported. I'd imagine that'd be the way it was if the servers merged.

This isn't rocket surgery, after all; there's the reporting mechanism and the Ignore button for trolls, of whatever stripe, and those who have nothing better to do than troll roleplayers are no different to any other troll.

Besides, if any particular group in a WZ is more intent on trolling and poking fun rather than actually playing, that might distract them long enough that the RPers can flank them and frag them senseless. So, it's all good. :)

Its still so very easy to gank pvers on a pve server.

OT: Merge all into a pvp server PvE is garbage anyway
