I was going to post a new thread but figured I could just ask here without being to much of a bother. It's cosmetic, mainly. Each race also gets a minor "social" ability that affects nothing, gamplay-wise. Like, humans can give a cheer that will make friendly npcs cheer back. Twi'leks get that little sexydance, which looks hilarious when a male does it. The only one with any actual in-game effect is the Mirialan racial.
