on a serious note, I do appreciate the attempt on behalf of the powers that be to try and keep us somewhat entertained by providing the codes. However, I also agree with what was stated by another player above. It's better to focus on getting the servers up and discuss compensation afterwards.

 

The devs are busy working on that. Eric is doing his job keeping us informed. He can be here and it doesn't detract at all from what the devs are working on. I do agree that the compensation thing can wait until the mess is sorted.

Actually no. If my cable or internet goes out I don't get compensated for the few hours it may be down. They only time they have compensated me was when it was out for 2 days. A game is a service, which is like cable or internet. There is not an actual product.

That possible fix we were building is getting closer for us to begin testing. We are probably around 45-60 minutes away from that. As soon as I get information around that fix and our testing, I will let you know.

a simple suggestion to you (apart from my PMs) - ask the responsible developer who is in to deploy the patch after "testing": "You are going to deploy it? You are sure? Would you bet the life of your firstborn on it?".

 

Make a serious face, say it seriously and then decide for yourself how comfortable you feel with the deployment of the "tested fix". Try it - at least you have some fun with it.

Shouldn't the compensation be based upon the duration of the down-time? Let's wait for a solution first that will hopefully be distributed to all of us in several hours.

It happens. I'm a subscriber. Am I upset that I'm losing game time? Yes, but whining about it isn't going to make the servers come up faster. All I can do is wait. Besides, it's not like this happens with every single update. As a result, I'm trying to be patient and understanding.

Hello, While I understand everyone is upset and angry cant we all just stop and think how hard it is to create a game? think about computer updates, even they have bugs. Any game you play is going to have moments where they are on the fritz. I For one want nothing but the Devs to know that I appreciate there hard work and I am extremely grateful for all the work they do to give us a game to play.

My cable/interweb went out FOUR days last week...know how they compensated me? By fixing it...that's it. Wasn't an issue at my house or with anything near me...they gave me nada! I pay over 10x's what I pay for SWTOR to them...what do you think I should get in return exactly?

Death due to Game of Thrones update 5.4a nerf

I spent 20 years in CS and nary a bit of it came out. Oh yeah, I got angry at times and said some things to my monitor that would've gotten me fired had I said them to a customer but I never got even close to the point of enjoying *********** around with other people for my own pleasure.

 

And believe me, if you work CS, you get treated abysmally.

 

I don't doubt that. Any job where one is providing a "service" to another human being tends to mean dealing with that other person while they act superior and/or angry. I hated having to "escort" VIP's on base, total waste of time and they act all smug and snotty. I just wanted to pistol whip some of them and say, "Your in my house now" then shove them into a torpedo tube for a few hours. I never actually did it, but I really wanted to.

I'll take 10 Twilek Male Dancers, a few more senator rugs, the Thunderclap starship deco because I have the others, the spa, gazebo, about two dozen Massasi Lights, same amount of Zakulian chandeliers, and a new paint job on my Defender ship.

Sometimes I worry this game is dying but then something like this happens and I realize that there are a ton of people who love this game so much that they can't help but have a complete meltdown just because they can't play for one day and/or didn't get a taunfaun. I mean I thought I loved this game but dang. I guess I shouldn't worry.

Just going by what Eric wrote in this thread. I am not fussed about it either way. The amount of money "lost" with the downtime is negligible and whilst I'm annoyed at being thwarted in my attempt to get to 300 (not sure actually why I'm hell bent on that but there it is) I'm not frothing about a dollar or so "lost". I think they'd be wise to extend or just start another CXP bonus period.
