Question about the Star Wars animated series.

"The deal with that" is the game designers chose to use movie and TV show designs for their game to make it more recognizable to casual fans. It's the same reason Jace Malcom looks vaguely Maori and wears clone trooper-esque armor.

With as much as people get into an uproar about 'canon' and all, I'm surprised no one said anything about the Empire and Republic army at some point just swapping uniforms and star ships.

The reason for this is that the Empire in the Star Wars movies were the originators of the Star Destroyer and stormtrooper designs. Thus, the Empire in SWTOR gets Imperial designs, even though they're not even the same Empires. The Republic ships and gear you see in the TV show are direct predecessors to the Empire's ships in the later SW movies; a year or so after the end of the show, the Republic becomes the Empire, and in ten years or less after the show's timeframe, the ship designs will be more refined into the classic Imperial look.

But if you're going by a strictly canonical timeline, then it does seem odd that the Republic of the TV show uses vessel designs and officer uniforms that are reminiscent of the old Sith Empire, while using trooper armor designs similar to those of the Old Republic. Most assume that this means that at the end of SWTOR, when the Sith Emperor and the other Sith are defeated, that the non-Sith Imperials and the Republic will merge into one government (notice also that the Sith Empire's emblem is more similar to the TV show Republic's emblem, while the Old Republic's emblem is more similar to the TV show Jedi's emblem).

In the clone wars series, it shows the Republic flying around in the same looking star ships as the Empire does in in game. What is the deal with that?
Basically The Clone Wars is the beginning of the Empire we know form the original movies in design and styling. The ships, vehicles and troopers uniforms were from The Clone Wars, which as we know were all designed by Palpatine, a Sith himself. He would have used elements of the Old Republic to put peoples minds at easy with the new army that just showed up, while subtly putting Imperial looks in.

Once General Order 66 was given the Republic dies and the Empire is reborn. Palpatine then redesigned everything to the look of the original movies, which is the traditional Sith Empire look we know in SWTOR.

This of course is just logical think, nothing more.

Ok, I had to reply to this. Here is the actual history.

Darth Plagueis, who was Palpatine's master was a high member of the banking clan. At this point in rule of two history Plagueis had amased great fortune and riches. He controlled the banking clan and Rothana Engineering and was using his influence and credits with Kuat . He began designing weapons for a war that he seen coming. He knew the sith empire would rise again. He had access to all the old sith empire archives and of course the republic. Keep in mind that the Republic did not have access to the old sith empire records. They were long forgotten, destroyed. The Acclamator and AT-TE are both of his designs. Then he met Palpatine who he realized would become a great political power. With his riches and Palpatines political power they would rule the galaxy together. He wanted to disband the rule of two and both of them to rule the galaxy him behind the scenes and palpatine in the fore front. Palpatine of course killed him to rule as one.

Now Palpatine inherits the designs and plans. 10 years before his attack of the clones he has count dooku go to kamino to make the clones and to rothana/kuat to make the ships and vehicles. He gets elected as chancellor. clone wars begin. Now palpatine knows its time and the end of the jedi is here and he will become emperor. He starts modelling everything after the old sith empire. He wants the sith empire to return in all its glory. He takes the old sith logo and makes it the republic armies. He takes the old dreadnought designs from the sith empire and its fighter ships and desgins all new ships after them. The venator, voctory, and imperial class star destroyers are born. Big badder walkers are made, AT AT. Super weapons. Ect ect. He copies the iniforms. He makes new positions titled from the old sith empire like moffs and grand moffs, emperor's hand, sith Inquisitor, ISB (Agent)

He does all this without anyone really knowing what is going on. And that is his sickest joke. He is so dark and twisted and hateful of the jedi. By using their old foes, the sith empire, and making it their army to command that will eventually turn on them and kill them is the ultimate sith deception. Its another sith nail in the coffin on how the jedi are fools and weak. And like lord helmet once said, "because good is dumb". Not only does he use their own army against them but its blatantly the sith empire 2.0. But of course the jedi and the regular republic do not know this because all the records from 3000 years ago about the sith empire have been lost and forgotten and destroyed.

Its pretty sad if you think about it.

Now to reality. Which is now now but we will be talking about then then. The designers of TOR knew all this. So they "reversed" engineered the sith empire 1.0 FROM sith empire 2.0. Still with me? The knew canonly palpatine modeled se 2.0 AFTER the original se 1.0. So that is why the ships in the old republic look like ships in modern era star wars. because the modern era ships were modeled after the old republic ships!

Got it?
