Gearing up after level 75 and ilvl 306?

So I am still in process to finding out what I have to do next.

I got me the recommended set ilvl 306 for my class and specialisation.

My gear is with mods at 306 now without augmentations unlocked.

Now I know I can get those augmentation kids that unlock the slot on the armor or weapon on the GTN, but they are like 1Mill each or more.

So I am still trying to find out if I should rather craft them myself but my Armortech is at 600 atm and I am not sure what difference it makes to put MK-10 or MK-11 kits in it?

And when I unlock the slot, where do I actually get the augmentation, cause I did like 20 fps and it only dropped once there.

sorry I am still in the research and find out process here!

Augmentation slots can be crafted by Armormech, Synthweaving, and/or Armstech. (There is no "Armortech" 😉 )

Augment slots are 'backwards compatible' - that is, a MK-10 slot can accept any augment up to (requires) Mk-10; a MK-11 slot can accept any augment up (req) Mk-11.

So it's basically best overall, if you can afford it, to use MK-11 slots**.

The augment slot components that you need to craft the slots can be gotten either by deconstructing crated weapons and armor, or by purchasing them. If you purchase them, check that the total cost of materials doesn't outweigh the cost of directly buying the slots themselves.

The augments are also crafted. Armstech can make Versatile (mastery), Shield, and Accuracy.

Armormech makes Absorb and Alacrity. Synthweaving makes Redoubt and Critical.

(Shield, Absorb, and Redoubt are mainly for tanks.)

** Note - Overall, my advice is to craft or buy Mk.11 slots. You can then equip them with any (current) augment you can get.

But, augment slots are not removable, so don't use Mk-11s until you decide on a final, "bonus" armor set. If you want to augment your armor before your final set, use Mk-10s.

The Augments are removable, so you can for example, take you 268 level augments out of your Mk-10 slots and put them into Mk-11s.

Do NOT waste time and credits on MK-10 augments, start by getting a full setup of MK-9 augments, purple mk9's have nearly the same in tertiary stats ( crit, shield etc.) as the MK-11 do and MK-10 has less ( they nerfed them with onslaught).

If you are a casual player i would recommend going with blue MK-11 as your final augments, they are comparably cheap and easy to make and the difference in stats is small, if you intend to do progression raiding i guess you should ignore my advice about "going blue" but not about the mk10s. When/if you get mk11's you can switch to defensive mods if you want without feeling crap in level 75 solo content, i did and i think others have done so as well.

I still dont get what is the purpose of MK-9 and MK-10 and 11.

Why buy 9 when you will eventually switch to 11 anyway?

Shouldnt I buy or get 11 from the start?

I wont put augments in a gear that is not the gear I will wear for the ent content.

For some chars I already have the full gear for others I have a couple.

But so far I havent augmented a single piece of yet.

My Armortech is lvl 690. Saw, he can only make MK10 but I dont have the mats yet.

I think I need to sleep over this 8)

But thanks for all the inputs and responses so far!

There is basically NO purpose to using any slots lower than Mk-10.

You should be able to get the schematic for the Mk-11s from your skill trainer. I'm not sure what level you need though. It's probably somewhere around 680-700.
