Unstable Arbiters Lightsaber/Staff

These sabers were hyped to all heck and back, and yet made near enough unobtainable with their ludicrously low drop rate from the newest packs. It’s insane how Bioware thinks this is acceptable. It's a dirty grasp for cash, yet I know this won’t change, hence me putting forward the option for these two sabers to be bought DIRECTLY from the cartel market without having to purchase the wild rodeo which is the newest pack.

If anything but for a small period of time until you actually fix the horrific rate of the chance cubes which is stumping most if not all individuals who are buying this pack only to find 60%+ drops are chance cubes. Who thought this was a good idea? An acceptable business plan?

At least with the sabers being obtainable through the CM you’ll get your cash and people will get the item they desire. If they want the crate they can simply buy it – but let’s face it… who wants ‘that crate’ with everything that has been revealed about it?

TL;DR Put the Unstable Arbiters sabers directly into the CM.

Yeah, good luck getting this. I opened around 150 crates (including all of the grand chance cubes) and got ZERO of these sabers. (Plenty of all of the other weapons.)

Got up this morning to see only 3 on the GTN, all for over 60 million.

Id like to know what the drop rate is on these sabers.

They are 50m on Ebon Hawk.

Given the cluster of a screw up these packs are, and that it seems to have taken most people 3 or 4 hypercrates to get one, 50m seems to be the range for them. Much to the displeasure of people waiting for them to 'come down in price', but given that there are so few of them I highly doubt they will drop below 40m at all, unless BW adjusts the drop rate on the new packs.

Combine this with the inventory issue of deleted items that no one is talking about yet. And I'd like to vote this patch the worst in a long time.

The one lone unstable lightsaber is going for 100mil on Shadowlands.

The duals are going for a minimum of 50mil.

This is not okay.

Absolutely agree; this drop rate is god awful.

Come on; wake up, this is only going to infuriate people. Especially a lot of the new players I see, who are big fans of the new movie. 100 MIL when I look on GTN too; holy hell, supply and demand are [[[iNCREDIBLY]]] off on this one, far far more than I've ever seen (been here since Beta with my mates, and we're all stumped on this one; virtually none of us can reasonable expect to get either the dualsaber or the saber.)

This sounds like:

"WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I can't have what I want for cheap. BW, you OWE me. You HAVE to allow me to buy EXACTLY what I want, for CHEAP. "

Before you start throwing any accusations around, I have bought NO crates or packs, so I do not have a saber up for sale on the GTN.

Guess what? Rare is rare sometimes. Sometimes, things are more expensive to obtain, or harder to obtain than we would like, but that is reality. The fact that this is a game means NOTHING. The same principles apply.

That is your opinion. That opinion may not be shared by all players.

If you want that saber, then it would seem obvious what you have to do in order to obtain it.

Credits are easy to be had. Maybe it is time to start farming.

That's your opinion, and by looking at all the posts already on the forum (in such a short amount of time) about the Unstable Arbiters Lightsaber/Staff, you're about the only one vs THE VAST MAJORITY of us saying it's a god awful move on BioWare's part. Expect A LOT more people posting who are FOR making it more reasonably accessible.

You argument was so imbecilic it made me sigh. I don't want it for cheap, I want it to be in the range of obtainable within reason. It's not about difficulty, it's not about me not wanting to spend 100 million credits on a lightsaber. It's the fact the drop rate is so horrific due to the new system that it's simply unbelievable. Multiple packs opened to find no item from the newest pack itself and you think this is all 'WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I want things for cheap' get a clue.

And for the record, NiM mounts cost less than this lightsaber does right now, food for thought.

I'm not saying that BW did the "right thing". I think they made a mistake with the drop rates. I hope they rectify that, but if they choose not to do so, that is their option.

We can either choose to purchase the packs, either directly using CC's or from the GTN, or we can choose to boycott these new packs and send a message to BW.

What bugs the living tar out of me, though, is the "entitled" attitudes that many players, including the OP, exhibit.

" I want that lightsaber and I don't want to do what is necessary to obtain it (farming credits to purchase it from the GTN or purchase the gambling packs) so BW needs to let me directly purchase it for CHEAP." ("reasonable price").

I don't want the lightsaber - the hilt is huge and ugly - I have a friend however who does. If it wasn't for the fact he's working right now he'd have already complained. Sadly due to the many hypercrates he bought as well as myself and another guild mate, counting towards 210+ packs (no exaggeration, I purchased four, he purchased two and the other guild mate, two) with no lightsaber - he unsubbed, but not before filling a ticket to support on how screwed the drop rates were. Perhaps he's overeacting about his hate for chance cubes? Regardless he wanted that lightsaber and has been hyping over it since it was announced. - I wanted the cybernetic rancor that was removed from the pack. Funny how I'm not complaining about that? Must be worn out of self entitlement.

:] But thank you for assuming this is all about me and not trying to fix a broken mechanic. And of course me being self entitled ;D I'll go cuddle my chaoscubes and be complacent with these horrific drop rates.

P.S I should mention that it wasn't just the saber that didn't drop, a massive bulk of the gold items weren't obtained from a pool of 210+ packs. If I recall correctly we only obtained about 13-17 items of golds - most were duplicates of lower armour etc, only 3 were mounts.

EDIT - Checked with my friend, 2 were mounts and those were what I obtained. Whoopsie on information.

If Johnny wants a Ferrari, but doesn't want to spend 100K on a car, guess what? He doesn't get the Ferrari.

That same principle applies here.

If you want that lightsaber, then go farm the credits for it. If you don't want to farm the credits, then maybe you really didn't want that lightsaber that much.

And for the record, IMO, it's likely more about the aversion to the effort of what is required to obtain that lightsaber.

The mechanic is not BROKEN. It may not be working like you want it to work, but it is NOT broken.

It sounds like you and your "friend" bought a bunch of "lottery tickets" and now are upset because you didn't "win".

I guess if your "friend" goes to a casino and doesn't win, he storms out and vows never to return to that "greedy casino" with the "broken mechanics"?

I'm confused here Ratajack, are you actually defending the fact that purchasing over 210 packs, and barely obtaining items that are from that pack alone is acceptable? And that anyone who complains about 60% drop rate of chance cubes is nothing but an entitled child? And that trying to come up with a way to solve the most 'hyped' item from that hypercrate drop rate until the ratios are fixed with the chance cubes is 'self entitlement' and simply 'wahhhhh I want things cheap?'

In other way, does this sound acceptable to you? Lightsaber aside? Because if it does, hah - I don't think we have anything else to discuss. You've said your piece, you don't agree, your opinion is down. Go away. If it doesn't seem right to you then why the hell are you defending it?

As for casinos, oh no... :] We had excellent luck in the casino event, go figure. I think it's because we knew what we were getting into, no one expected this with new system - or perhaps a few did >>

I am all for letting the market determine the price, but to me BW made a stupid decision here. They have an item that is highly sought after because of Ep VII, why make it so difficult to achieve?

I find it hard to believe that they couldn't generate more by having it as a direct purchase for the CM for 1,200 CC. Basic pricing strategy 101 could chart out the optimal price.

FWIW, I think the hilt is ugly. I wish they had created an unstable crystal rather than the hilt.

I opened up 360 packs -- 12 Hypercrates -- and didn't get a single saber. I'd say the drop rate is laughably low. It's utter rubbish.

^ this

I've spent $3000 on coins over the last 4 years. Which has been fine since i can afford it. and up until now i got what i paid for...

Now... its false economy, this Cube system literally adds the 12 new items to the pool of 2000 items and STILL tries to sell itself as a new pack...

I'm sorry but this is borderline fraud, and this game will not see another dollar from me until this changes.

I mean lets face it... this is PURE GREED. They're not selling any real world materials, they're selling fkin pixels and to fraud its loyal patrons like this is unforgivable.

Good-job greedy tards of bioware, way to finish off a dieing game. Enjoy your time at the job center when it goes under.... at most 1 year and counting.

If you read my posts, you would have seen that I said I think they made a mistake with the drop rates, and that I hope they change that. That is only my opinion, however.

My opinion does not mean the mechanic is "broken", though.

This is BW's game, and if they choose not to make any changes, then we all have to accept that that is BW's decision. We do NOT, however, have to purchase those packs. If BW sees the revenue from those packs is not where they want it to be, then they will have to reevaluate their decisions regarding those packs.

I do not believe that I, or anyone, is entitled to have everything they want simply because they want it. I understand that some things I want, I will likely never have because the "cost" is higher than I am willing to pay. That cost may be credits on the GTN, an abysmally low drop rate from packs or a portion of the game in which I choose not to engage--such as PVP or OPS.

I do not "suggest" or demand that BW change the method of obtaining any particular item, or items, simply because I don't like the "mechanics" that they set to obtain those items.

I don't think anyone would be here complaining if the chance cubes didn't ruin the drop rate of the new golds, or in some cases completely blocked individuals from receiving a single item from the newest pack that was advertised. This is the first pack to ever present this issue. I frankly have never had a reason to complain about the packs until now, mainly as I'm given a reason to 'demand' and 'suggest' because I wish to continue purchasing items but not with the way Bioware has set about it.

I would like to purchase this lightsaber for my friend as an early birthday gift. Granted even if they do put the saber directly into the CM I still would not purchase any more crates until the drop rate is fixed on the chance cubes. And that's my right.

Three hypercrates, two supercrates, and two lone packs, no saber of either kind. This puts the theoretical drop rate just south of 0.5% for me. Considering a lot of you opened many, many more packs than I did, the drop rate is most likely near 0.1% or worse. So, roughly a 1 in 1,000 chance to get one?! What gives Bioware? Did you break the RNG engine?!

I think you are right to exercise your "right" not to purchase the new packs. Not purchasing the new pack is likely the best way to get BW to "rethink" their new pack design.

307 packs opened not one lightsaber. If this is working as intended I am afraid this is the last time I will participate.

Blah blah gambling, yeah I know. I think it is still an unreasonably low chance when you are asking your customers to anti up with real world cash. Random is fine with me, if you want to set the drop rate to 4 shipments (120 packs) I can live with that rate but 10+ Hypercrates/307 pack without a single drop is an absurd hurdle for most of your customers to meet.

On this issue I feel quite comfortable expressing my dissatisfaction.

Seriously, there are many ways to handle the back end programming so that they can get to their target $$ for a pack and still have the customers walk away with some sense of satisfaction from the transaction.

Without serious changes I will now rely on the CM for 'select' items and not worry about being a collector.

Sans BW putting them up for direct purchase on the CM, they could've had the sabre's ( single and staff ) randomly drop from HMs, and be a guaranteed final boss token from NiM Ops. At least we'd all have a chance to get one.

Then, if people want to sell them on the GTN for a 100 mill, fine.

Anyway you cut it 100 mil for a sabre that's only attainable from the CM is just... ridiculous. This situation isn't the players fault, it's BioWare's.
