thefatness
Im trying to figure out which other relic to get for pvp for my marauder (Carnage). I have the Serendipitous Assault and dont know which one I should get for next one as I dont know what Internal Force Damage, Elemental Tech and Energy Tech are. Im assuming internal force damage (Relic of Dark Radiance). Any guidance, info or assistance would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
NOTACTICS
They are different types of damage basically, and different abilities fall into those types of damage. if you look at you ability page you can see what type each ability comes under, and if you look at you character tab there is a drop down to see the damage stats on each type. Tech damage is in the main for the gun users were as force is for the Jedi /Sith saber users. I don't think Jedi/Sith have tech based abilities as I know my gunslinger has not got any force type abilities although I could be wrong on that as not tried all classes. Internal and elemental are more for your sages and inquisiters basically your distance magic de-buff attacks for want of a better description. Prabhunath
Attacks come in 4 types, which have 2 categories because they're functionally treated identically within those categories: melee/ranged and Force/Tech. Furthermore, there are 4 damage types, which are split into 2 categories because they're functionally identical within those categories: kinetic/energy and internal/elemental. There's really no difference between kinetic damage and energy damage as far as mitigation and such go. They exist as seperate damage types so that abilities that use them make sense (It wouldnt make much sense for a blaster bolt to deal kinetic damage, or for a melee attack to deal energy damage, for example). Internal and Elemental damage are the same way - there's really no difference between them, but they exist seperately in order to make more sense on abilities. Bleeds are internal damage, while elemental damage is used for things like fire attacks. Hope the above quotes help. When in doubt, go either internal or elemental because it penetrates armor and is not diminished by it. Gloomycakes
Always use a damage type based on your character. Tech for Tech-users and Force for Force-users, you're obviously a Force-user. This leaves 1 choice whether you want it to be affected by armour or not. In PvE it requires about 40% armour penetration for a Kinetic to be better than an Internal. How-ever in PvP you're hitting enemies with a way lower armour rating, which makes a Kinetic relic often the stronger option. I'm not a number cruncher myself so this is all I recall from reading information from number-crunchers.
