I've been playing as the veng/rage hybrid (0/29/12) and am putting out about 1k DPS in just 3pc columi gear with other random stuff ive picked up along the way (my main spec is tanking, so my implants/earpiece are tanking ones) Our marauders are doing about 1.5k and our mercs are as well, so its behind, but still ahead of assassins! Hard to say, especially since your DPS in general is viewed to be inferior (but no one will know for sure until a combat log is released for parsing) as well as being melee.
