tomatosquish
I've tried asking this over the last few weeks in general chat, pvp, even guild but have only gotten silence or a technically correct yet not applicable answer... *Note* I only seem to have this problem on a PT What I want to know is why (huttball specifically) I cannot leap to certain people. I fully understand not being able to do it to sniper/gunslinger but I have also had this issue with mers and sorcs though very rare but very often operatives/scoundrels . I do not play op/scoundrel (I tried, I just dont like it) so I may be missing something in a utility or some other benefit. So here is the scenario: The op/scoundrel gets the ball and does their usual zipping about towards the goal. I try to pull them back but my line goes out and nothing happens as if their resolve was full. No problem I figure they have some immunity to knockbacks/pulls and I do get my crit for rocket punch so I try to leap to them and even though the ability is lit... Nothing. I check distance, they are in range, but I cant use it. Check my debuffs to see if anything has me rooted... nothing. Clear LOS... no reason at all I shouldn't be able to. Weirder still to me is this only seems to happen with certain players. Other players playing the same class I can happily pull into acid pits or leap to and set them on fire.. But there always seems to be that one that is just immune. Even more confusing to me is it seems to only happen on my PT. I see jugs, maras leap to these people while I am trying to but can't. I've also seen other PT's ask why they can't pull/leap to certain people so it definately isn't just me.
Banderal
There are a few things going on with huttball maps that makes leaps (and maybe pulls - not sure) kind of a crap shoot. First there is de-sync. Usually you will see this as a person rubberbanding between levels, or just vanishing into the floor for a while. When that happens, in my experience, you basically can't target them at all. They usually show up a few seconds later, about 30-45 feet (in game distance) from where you last saw them. Also if they are bouncing between levels, like a catwalk and the pit below it, you can be pretty sure they will be on whichever level you decided to NOT stay on... that's just Murphy messing with you. Also, leaping/porting to an enemy in the "endzone area" is iffy. Both my own EZ or the enemy. I'm not sure about teleport to friend (like a jugger's intercede). But for my shadow and sin, the port to enemy sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Seems no rhyme or reason to it. I've seen various claims that it's either supposed to work, or not supposed to work, from players. I've never seen anything specifically from bioware saying which way is intended. I don't know if either of those explains what you are seeing, but those are the two randoms I know about. tomatosquish
No both of those I write off as the game being the game... I am well aware of some wonkyness in huttball. This seems more like something that one player is doing which is why I was wondering about if it was some utility I am not aware of. It could very well be something that is only available to say dirty fighting and not to the heal or other dps class and I simply cannot find it/don't know it because I hate the playstyle with a passion
MackPol
Concealment Operative (most common) has dodge immediately after roll. If you pull them then it will be fruitless. If they are rolling with the ball you have to time your pull right. Other examples would be entrench on sniper , stun immunity on mara or hydrolic override on merc pt. Can’t leap to enemies in end zones. Also Pt leap has been bugged for ages, what happens is that the button lights up , goes on cool down and you stay in same place. They can’t be bothered to fix that.
tomatosquish
That bug sounds like the most likely to me. I will attribute it only applying to certain people (most commonly an operative) as the game just being wonky. After all even if I meet the same person in another WZ I will no longer have that issue on that person, but rather another.
TrixxieTriss
I’ve noticed since 5.10.1 that sometimes my instant whirlwind goes on CD but does noting. No animations and the players have a clear resolve bar. This is mostly happening against Operatives and not just in HB. I had a Yavin match the other day where the operative had already used his double roll, but was right at the limit of my whirlwind to stop him. I activate it and nothing happens except it going on CD. I’m wondering if it’s lag and because they are close to the range limit. But it never use to be like that. Maybe BW stealth-buffed Operatives with some sort of immunity to Whirlwind. #NerfOps
Rion_Starkiller
Trixxie.... please stop giving examples. Literally 100% of your weird issues are because you are AUS/NZ playing on an US east coast server. As for OP's Grapple pull, it's not the guy you're trying to pull, it's your Grapple ability. It technically doesn't trigger until the animation reaches the target. So if you fire off the ability and it reaches the target just as he gets LOS on you (acid/fire pillar, uneven ground, partial LOS on a ramp, etc), then the ability will fail. Additionally, it might fail if the opponent goes far enough out of range during the Grapple animation. These are the things I have experienced on my PT.
