Is the HK quest on Dromund kaas broken? I have spent 3 hrs yesterday and I spent 4 hrs today combing the temple approah from the camp to the temple door, moving only within the white ring that shows up after the scanning is complete. I cannot find the damn thing.

I spent 30 min before i found the hoth part and i was lucky on taris as some other player found it less than 5 min after I arrived. I'm only missing the two capital world parts. I'm not looking forward to searching for the Coruscant part either.

I have tried this quest several times over the years, but I have always been stumped by this search and two times have the quest been reset but game updates.

Am I just very unlucky or is this quest broken???

I got it just a few days ago, so unlucky I guess.

I have also scrounged for this one several times over the las couple years, and usually got bored and gave up. Found it last night between the two roads, right near the elite mob in the middle section. So long searched for and finally found.

Jumped to Hoth to chase down that piece and found it as I ran up to the wreckage. Cleared 4 mobs and searched for the hell of it. HK component within 10 metres. Should have heard the cursing right after I unearthed it lol

I got it just a few days ago, so unlucky I guess.

I'm not jealous at all...

Go to the nearest casino and spent a couple hundreds $ to appease RNG gods.

A wise man once said that you sould not gamble more money than you can afford to lose, and I cannot afford it right now. Besides the biggst prize I've ever won is 100 Dkr. (15$)

That said I would forego a couple of meals if I could buy the damn thing, either on the GTN or in the ca$h shop

You don't need to do the area from the camp to the bottom of the steps.

Check if anyone else is also looking for the part. If someone else finds it, it will be available to all for about a minute and then reset somewhere new. If someone else finds it, and you don't notice, it could get reset to an area you've already covered.

We had a team of 3 people and that really seemed to help us find the parts in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, we still don't have HK-51 because the final part in the Hard Mode Flashpoint wasn't clickable. Friends who obtained HK-51 swore that it should be. I haven't gone back to try a second time, yet...

You can get it Solo Mode now too. I had a JK who was running all of those post 4.0 to see if anything changed, sent in a ticket asking for a clarification of it HM FP was still required or not ("Sorry, we are only dealing with class stories a this time", ran it Solo Mode, got the part from Maelstrom and then again in False Emperor solo mode.

I did it!!! I found it!! Or not really. Someone else did.

I went to DK for another try and when i got there I noticed another play who seemed to be doing a search and he found it just as i got close to him.

I wasn't as lucky on Coruscant but idid manage to find it within 25 mins. I was so pleased that i quickly ran Foundry i solo mode for it's hk part (I almost missed it because the clicky thingy was so small).

Now all 'im missing is the one in False Emperor but i'm only on corellia storywise. So after 4 years it looks like I'm finally going to get HK-51 as a companion on one of my toons.

If I'm ever is going to get him on another toon I'm buying him. There is no way I'm doing this quest again.

Maelstrom Prison has it in a box in the next room after you get the cutscene after defeating the FP boss.

Foundry has a box next to where the fight was.

False Emperor was a drop when you defeat the droid mini-boss

There are two parts from flashpoints. One of them you can do in any mode. One of them we tried in Tactical, but when we clicked the item, it said that we needed to get it in Hard Mode. When we did the FP again in HM, the item wasn't clickable at all. It was a very long and frustrating evening.

Got the parts from solo mode FE, Maelstrom and Foundry. Didn't try the TFP variants.

Yes. If you look at the standard guides, you'll see that you need one character who takes the big part of the work, runs the Theoretika and the flashpoints, and finds the pieces on most of the planets, and one character who receives the scanner in the mail (or via legacy storage) and scans DK or Coruscant. The DK and Coruscant pieces are legacy bound for precisely that reason. The "other-faction" player needs only be high enough level to survive in the old Jedi Temple or the Dark Temple approach.

And if you do the bulk of the work on a Republic character, the "other-faction" character doesn't have to be a Sith - Imperial Agents and Bounty Hunters can do it as well. (Teasing)

It's best to scan the area in a logical, row by row manner (Not saying you didn't, btw - just sayin' )

Some people have spent hours scanning. I've done the HK-51 quests about 6 times (at least). Most of the time any particular part only took about 15-20 minutes, but occasionally longer. I once spent around 3 hours trying to find the part on DK - and then someone else actually found it instead of me - once it's found, it stays visible (a beam of light such as from a drop) for a few minutes.

You can search for the part on any character as long as you have the scanner. It requires an active quest to be able to pick up the part on Taris and Hoth. The parts on DK, Cor and Tat can be picked up by anyone as they are BTL and can be farmed and saved for later.
