I just bought the Investigators set from the cash shop for my Jedi, because she's dark side and I wanted her to look Sithy as she runs with her pal Scourge.

 

My problem is this...I'm disappointed with how the set is coloured. In the shop picture, the try on/sample windows, and in the window in the actual cash shop, the outfit top is a gorgeous bright red (the reason I loved it)...

 

The top shows up an ugly sable brown colour and doesn't match the set's skirt as shown. Is there any plan to fix this or recolour the set properly? If there isn't, I want to know how to go about getting my points back. The thing cost 1200 CC points. -_-

If I wanted to run around in a mismatched outfit, I'd not have bothered to buy a supposedly matched set.

 

PS disregard my crappy stats, as I haven't yet ripped the mods out of the armour and put in the right ones yet. I'd like to know if my problem can/will be fixed first sometime before the next century.

The model in the shop is male. You are playing a female character. Armor models are often different between males and females, and if this is the case the shop should show both models.

 

Request a refund, if they don't give it to you then complain. It would be ****** customer service if they didn't refund you and don't stand for it.

 

In the future: keep in mind that you can preview all items before you buy them, just like you can any item in your bags or on a vendor, they give you a link you can use to preview it on your character.

 

Really, instead of relying on the shift-click preview, the cartel market should have a built in viewer for armor.

I did try it on and sample it before buying, it looked red then and it looked damn good, so I bought it...and when I equip it, it's effing brown on top and red on the bottom. The red of the skirt is supposed to be repeated on the shirt...and if it's like one of the posters said, that male/female stuff appears different, well they bloody well need to show both options. The shift-click to preview an item is a pain. Before they offered refunds on items, it was a HUGE problem. The UI for the Cartel Market is not all that user friendly. The "BUY NOW" button is very prominent, and you have to click a smaller button see the items you get for your purchase, and THEN you have to shift-click to preview.

 

It's not an ideal UI. And giving a refund of an in-game currency to keep a player happy is a better option than a policy that alienates players who feels like they were mislead.

The OP has a valid complaint. Her Paper Doll also shows red (which is used for Preview) and on her character the top is an entirely different color.

 

I'm going to assume this is an actual bug and not BW intentionally misleading the customer. Either way, it's needs to be addressed. Fix or Refund.

Thank you. Thank you. It feels better that atleast someone understands, and doesn't think I'm a complete loon that didnt try on my stuff before buying. I mean honestly, it's REAL MONEY. Of course I'm going to try it on first. This isn't my first purchase either.

Good idea, gonna give that a shot right now. If nothing else, it'll let anyone else who was going to buy this, save themselves the troubles I'm having.

That has to be a bug of some kind. And as such it will never be fixed, like so many cosmetic bugs that have been around since beta.

The lighting in this game is really good, what I mean by that is the lighting like lighting in the real world effects the way colours look by adding it's own colours. You'll notice your armour will look different under different lighting. In your screenshots you're under yellow lighting which when added to red makes a brownish colour, I do believe the preview window is white lighting which doesn't exist in the real world or anywhere in the game which is why it appears more red.

saw your other screenshots and ya it seems to be a bug, it probably has to do with the spec map on the item and shouldn't be that hard a fix for bioware if you bring it to their attention.

Is your characters skin pale white? Then that may be whats turning the top dark on your character. Depending on your characters skin color, some chestpieces turn out darker or lighter colored.

 

It's a pain in the *** and I HATE that. The same thing happened to me, though it was not a cartel shop item, just a PVE boss drop.

 

This skin color thing has been a problem for a long time in the game, and they have said nothing about when they'd fix it.

 

Of course that may not be your issue, it's just the only thing I can think of.

You're right!! It is a female bug...look here on Kira...It's brown. I hope they can fix it, I really fell in love with the Red Set, and it looks great on my Login, just too bad about i/g.

Yeah, there is a bug with the colors being different on the in-game models than in the high-res models (cutscenes/log-in screen). Fixing the colors is the right thing to do, and hopefully it is done promptly.

 

Can you screenshot the preview of the armor? The shop lets you do the preview for each piece.

I want an option have the gear look the same on my female toons. Maybe a /male-version toggle?

This has the same issue that some other chest pieces do (like the aspiring knight's vest), in that the color of the item is different from the icon, or preview of the item, based on the skin color of the character.

 

Light skin tones (1 on the slider), get a black or very dark color version. Mid skin tones get the item as previewed, and dark skin tones get a very light color version of the item.

 

BW needs to acknowledge this bug and state what is the real cause for it and what pieces does it effect.

 

As as side note, I saw a a player using the Investigators set top, who had skin tone 1 (white), and had the dark black coloration on the top. I liked that look more then the red version.

I'm one of those people with light skin color, so random chestpeices turn dark or black on me and I absolutely hate it. What you preview is what you should get.

 

They need to fix this bug...it's been around far too long to not be addressed at all. :/

I don't think her skin is pure pure white, but it's on the light side...and its darker than her dark side sithy look, which I don't toggle on. I hope they can fix this.

Yeah after reading some replies I'm pretty sure her problem is gender related, but there's also a skin color bug that does about the same thing.
