My server lost interest in GSF already.

Jung Ma hasn't lost interest in GSF at all. Ques never take 15 minutes at any point of the day (Maybe like 6AM, but I don't play that early :p). The longest I have waited for a GSF match is maybe 8 or 9 minutes at lunch time (11AM).

I run GSF almost solely. I rarely do anything else anymore XD. Based on the matches I play (Not all are 12v12, but majority are.) I don't see any reason to think that Jung Ma as a whole lost interest.

On my server Jung Ma, people lost interest in GSF already. During prime time at night, it takes 15+ minutes to get a GSF pop. And they are not full 12v12 games either. Most of them are 8v8 games.

I think there are several issues causing this:

1. The difference between fully upgraded ships and new ships are too great. Newbies get slaughtered in a few matches and get discouraged from continuing to que.

2. Ship upgrades are not across legacy, and this problem is tied to #1 above. If someone is playing on an alt with no upgraded ships, he/she is unlikely to que because the ones with fully upgraded ships will slaughter him/her. So unless the player specifically want to play GSF and get on his/her main with upgraded ships, he/she would rather que for WZs for PvP when they are on alts.

3. GSF sucks as a leveling option for newbies and alts, and this problem is tied to #1 and #2 above. Queing for GSF when leveling alts may pit the player against people who may be on their mains with fully upgraded ships. Fully upgraded ships can easily slaughter new ships with no contest. So playing GSF on alts is like playing as a level 15 against level 50s in WZs in the old days: asking to get owned.

This is what I suggest to make GSF fun and viable even for newbies and alts:

1. Make ship upgrades across legacy. So people don't have to start all over with new ships every time they play a different alt.

2. Nerf all ship upgrades and abilities across the board, so the power level between new ships and fully upgraded ships are not that big of a gap.

OK, I read this a few days ago, and I was skeptical of some of these points. But I started getting in games where almost all my team were players with 2 ships unlocked, and almost all the opposing team had 5+ ships unlocked.

Even in an 8vs8, there's only so much one player can do when you're constantly triple teamed because your entire team is waiting to respawn.

And the players with two ships are simply getting farmed, zero kills, zero medals, zero objective points. They're not going to be able to upgrade their ships in these situations.

Also, lol matchmaking. Hard to matchmake when there's only enough Imps online to field 1 or 2 games at a time.

There are more issues stemming from the experience gap than just light amounts of players queuing.

For new players that do queue they get dominated. And that's no fun for either team. I hate being on the winning side of a match where the enemy is unable to put up a fight. Not that I don't mind the easy win, but it's just boring when there is no enemy there to challenge you.

I think that gunships were the wrong choice to start with when opening GSF for preferred players. I personally find the gunship class to be boring and in most games that I play, the amount of players who are gunships are usually a small minority (meaning I don't think I'm the only person who doesn't like playing a gunship) But since Bioware decided "hey! lets add 5 new gunships into the game!" the people who never used gunships much are sticking with their beefed up strikes and scouts and are being paired against preferred players with no upgrades.

It would have been a smarter idea to introduce more strike and scout varieties instead of gunships. Because then the experienced players would step away from their already beefy upgraded ships and start upgrading newer ones and that would have evened the playing field a bit vs the new players.

But either way, I just think their integration of old and new players was handled very poorly.

Oh, and yeah I think that ships not being legacy is stupid. I have one character on the republic side (my main, already 55) that I play GSF with. I also have one imperial character that I do imp GSF with... but don't really do that much. I have absolutely no reason to play GSF on any other character. Not only because the rewards are lame, but because I don't want to go through the hassle of upgrading a ship all over again.

Last night at around 11pm eastern time, I had a 15 minute que time if I didn't reque quick enough, but that's also at 11pm too.
