I'd like to suggest the introduction of a male Force-using companion, available (like Treek) for either cartel coins, purchasable by anyone; or credits, purchasable by those with sufficiently high legacy level. Specifically, I'd propose someone expelled from the Jedi Order as a Padawan. Perhaps he was too arrogant and opinionated? Too morally "gray?" Whatever reason, really, so long as it's something that would make him suitable as a potential companion for a Light Side or Dark Side character, whether Republic or Imperial.

 

I suggest this for a few reasons:

 

The power dynamic of the teacher-student relationship in the Force-using classes is presently heavily skewed. Of the five subordinate Force-using companions available between the four Force-using classes, four of them are women. Working toward a more egalitarian gender distribution in the "person who has to follow my orders and call me 'Master'" department is surely a good thing. Jedi could redeem him before the council, while Sith could complete his fall.

 

Right now, there are no options for players - regardless of character class - who want an ongoing romance with a male Force-user. This companion could also fill that niche, and could be designed to romance both male and female characters.

 

Characters from classes that don't receive a lightsaber-wielding companion could enjoy that part of the Star Wars experience, without having to necessarily play a Force-user. For characters who aren't Jedi or Sith, this companion's story arc could involve settling more comfortably into life as a mercenary-type, without allegiance to either major Force-using tradition. (Depending on the difficulty of programming it, which I don't claim to even remotely understand, this could also be a valid path for the companion if Jedi/Sith choose not to bring him into their respective orders.)

 

So, in sum: moving toward a more equitable gender balance in the game, potential male Force-using romance (and potential same-gender romance), and a lightsaber-wielder for classes that don't normally get one.

 

I recognize that this is a pie-in-the-sky sort of request, and something that would take a hell of a long time to program and implement, but it's an idea that I nevertheless wanted to put out there.

There are no words for the amount of support I have for this idea.

Personally, I'd love to see a Kel Dor companion in the game, but it wouldn't work in this instance, since the breathing mask kills the "Leia test." (If you can't see Princess Leia kissing a member of the species, it's not a valid candidate for a romance.)

Also, when all your crewers gang up around the holostation, how come she doesn't?

While I'm thinking of the species of this theoretical companion, I'd likely go for Human (since it's the most common NPC type in the game), Miralian (no companions of this species, yet, despite it being playable), Chiss (likewise), Miraluka (ditto), or Nautolan (they're in the game, already, and have a cool visual aesthetic.)

I wanna see some Nikto Force users. It's not like they're Force Blind. And we already have the smuggler/demo guy for the Trooper. More Nikto!

Is it possible for them to make more romanceable companions? I like Vette's romance, but DS Jaesa is alternately freaking creepy or completely insane.

I love this suggestion to itty bitty pieces and agree with the OP. I'd definitely shell out the CC to get that for a couple of characters, at least.

 

However, I agree it should be either Human or a very similar species such as Mirialan. First, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that wouldn't want a Kel Dor or something similarly inhuman as a possible romance option (imagine how many complaints there'd be if Vette or Kira was a Kel Dor!). And more importantly, I would also point out that with the exception of Treek, all of the alien Companions of a "can't see Princess Leia kissing it" species are male, so if they added one of those I'd much rather see it as a new female Companion.

If a new female companion, along the same general lines as my suggested male companion (though not a Force-user; we seriously don't need to keep saddling women throughout the galaxy with the role of eternal apprentice), were to be released, I'd very much hope that she'd be programmed as a potential romance for both male and female characters, rather than something un-romance-able.

Then we should ask BW to have an options for your new companion.

 

Fully customizable.

Gender, race, looks, specialisation.

So we could create companion of our taste.

I like OP's idea as well. Would be great to get a real Jedi-companion for my smuggler rather than this "Wheehoo"-Guss Tano.

Not impossible, no, but I think it's an unrealistic and probably unreasonable request, given the way that companions currently work in this game. Besides, I'd rather be surprised by and learn through dialogue and subplots what kind of back-story and personality a companion has than to just assign all of that myself.

I would love to have a sage/sorc-type Chiss companion, considering 8 of my 18 characters are Chiss, I may just have a minor obsession with blue skin.
