In all honesty, it is an insult that gear drops for specs not even in the operation. Even back in 1.0, when gear was set to the base class, it would ONLY drop per the group in the 4-man flashpoint team or the 8-man flashpoint team.

If there wasn't a Warrior at ALL, not one piece of warrior gear would drop. This would have been received A LOT better if the old code was pulled up, and the operations ONLY dropped Purple 246 year, based on the ADVANCED classes in the team.

That being said, too much time has passed. People have had plenty of time to work on the command rank or simply get their gear crafted. I don't understand why you can't just put the token drops again.

The BEST system, was when EV/KP/EC all dropped specific pieces, TFB/S&V dropped a specific tier, and DF/DP dropped a specific tier. Eitherway, it dropped tier.

By dropping unassembled components, you are REALLY just switching back to the original way with commendations/drops, which is what should have stayed in the first place.

i have finally finished my second toon (a arsenal merc lvl 300, after i am done with my operative BiS lvl 300 aswell), only to see its going to be nerfed in a coupl eof weeks, so gearing him up as lost its interest..unless i learn to play IO which is worse then rng hehehehe:
Pretty much, the two characters I have at rank 300, both got nerfed. I have little interested in leveling a 3rd to level 300. When there were token drops I could just get those and move forward.

This is a pretty decent compromise too, simply add 246 unassembled drops on all non-apex bosses.

just want to chime in to hop on the 246 drop train. blues with crap mods have no place in master modes.

So @EricMusco - We have any updates on this thread? It's been a month and plenty of feedback so far.

Thanks!

Any-word about changes? Or can we just get 248 on all Master Mode Bosses instead of waiting till whenever the new Ops finishes in months to finish getting the rest of the gear.

As far a option 2 goes: not everyone like or plays PVP. If there is any group of players that doesn't play PVP, it is your OPS community. If you go with Option #2, then you need to make sure it gives enough unassemble components to actually buy a piece from the vendor, so those who do not have any unassembled components, can still purchase a piece and get rewarded with a gear piece for winning the drop. So it will have to give 250 unassembled components to be worth while. While I'm on the topic of the unassembled vendors, I just noticed that the warrior vendor does not have the relic of devastating vengeance. Is that correct?

One thing to add, why not just add the weekly buffed OPS back on the fleet. We used to be able to run a hard mode OPS that would drop 228 pieces. Why not just do the same thing here. Put back the weekly OPS run that will drop 248 pieces as it really encouraged that OPS all week long, and was a great way to improve gear without having to be in a progression raiding guild, as a lot of players can not commit to being on a progression raiding team.

I totally agree with Rifka on this. If you choose option #2, it needs to come with enough unassembled components to actually buy a piece from the vendor for those that do not have any unassembled components. If not, then you need to add unassembled components into every boss on every OPS run, including story mode. That way your OPS community has a stash of unassembled components when they win this drop. But I like her idea of putting the weekly buffed OPS back like it was before. So that one OPS per week will drop 248 pieces in veteran mode difficulty. Just add a 248 piece to each boss along with the 242 drop like it used to be where every boss dropped a 228 piece along with the 220 piece.

For today, we really want to focus on the drops currently coming from Master Mode Operations, as this has been a hot topic. Letís start with some context on how gearing currently works for Operations at each difficulty (all examples assume 8-player):

Story Mode Operations:
  • Each boss drops a specific Tier 2 Legendary quality item
    • Ex: Soa in Eternity Vault will always drop 2 offhands

Veteran Mode Operations:
  • Each boss drops a specific Tier 3 Legendary quality item
    • Ex: Soa in Eternity Vault will always drop 2 offhands

Master Mode Operations:
  • Each non-final boss in an Operation will drop random Tier 4 Prototype and/or Artifact quality item
    • Ex: Killing Nefra in Dread Fortress will drop 2 random items which will be of Prototype or Artifact quality
  • Each final boss of an Operation will drop a specific Tier 4 Legendary quality item
    • Ex: Dread Master Brontes in Dread Fortress will always drop 2 gloves

Gods From the Machine does not follow the above rules. Here is how that works:
  • Story Mode Ė Each boss will drop a specific Tier 3 Legendary item
    • Ex: Tyth will always drop a Tier 3 relic
  • Veteran Mode Ė Each boss will drop a specific Tier 4 Legendary item
    • Ex: Tyth will always drop a Tier 3 relic

The key issue with Master Mode is the gear you are receiving isnít being consistently provided as it is with the other Tiers. The primary reason is we wanted the Gods from the Machine Operation to contain BiS gear and be the most consistent source for Tier 4 gear. But, since we only offer one boss encounter right now, itís making it difficult for you to obtain Tier 4 gear. We have been discussing two ideas to address this issue and would like your feedback:
  1. We double the amount of drops awarded in both 8 and 16-player difficulties. This means there is a random aspect of what is dropping, but there will be more chances of receiving Tier 4 gear based on the number of players participating in the Operation.
  2. We leave the amount of gear drops as is, but we add Unassembled Components to each boss. This would mean that players running Master Mode would not only be receiving a chance at Tier 4 gear, but they are also working towards being able to upgrade/purchase the Tier 4 gear they need. We realize Unassembled Components have been attributed to PvP activities, but we could make that adjustment.

So what do you think? Do you like or dislike option 1 or 2 above? Is there something you are concerned about with either idea? What idea was not mentioned that you think could solve this? Let us know!

Please go back to square one. This is a FAILED system that do nothing to incentivize players but to grind till your eyes bleed. You are creating a system of HAVE and HAVE NOTs. Yes one can fast track if we do OPS. Some could care less for OPS. I know you can take the long route and grind more grind by PvPs and other stuff. The drop rates should be equal whether one does a PvP/OPS or heck yes even a Flashpoint or anything in game. Do not pick favorites among your playerbase and really this system stinks and remain broken!
