Am I to understand that this is not an option at all? Is this going to be implemented anytime soon? I'm curious because you can't say that it's because this game is PG-13, you're cutting peoples heads off in some of the quests for crying out loud.

 

I heard a rumor that they WERE considering this but i'd like someone to give a link before I go saying this or looking forward to it.

I believe it is in there now.

They said they would put it in later, and it will be soon, I guess as in one of the first things they'll put in. I don't think it's in already.

Due to the design constraints of a fully voiced MMO of this scale and size, many choices had to be made as to the launch and post-launch feature set. Same gender romances with companion characters in

Star Wars:

The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature. Because The Old Republic is an MMO, the game will live on through content expansions which allow us to include content and features that could not be included at launch, including the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options.

That just tells us what we already knew. What I have been looking for is a time frame as to WHEN they might be in. Will it be a month or two or like a year? And if it is going to be new companions does that mean I have no hope of romancing Nadia Grell unless I reroll Male? Edited December 23, 2011 by Meciyel

Really hoping its within the month or so. It's really annoying having to play classes I dislike because BioWare won't say if the same-gender will be on existing companions, or new ones.

 

And if it's on existing ones, will I get a companion conversation reset or not? They just always give the copy/paste response which doesn't help... I wanna know if I can play my Jedi Guardian and still maybe get a romance with Kira, or if it'll be on a new companion. If it's on a new one, then I can play without worry. But as I don't know, I'm forced to play something else as I really don't wanna re-roll over a feature that should've been included already really...

I hope they get new ones.

As far as I can tell, you have to start any romance.

 

Also, technically speaking, they wouldn't "turn bi". Remember, your companion (story wise) only exists for "you". Like in DA2, it's not so much they "turn bi" as their orientation is changed to fit what you need.

This better be a toggle you have to turn on... I don't want my female companions constantly hitting on me. Even Kaliyo makes me uncomfortable right now. With as bad as the haircuts are in this game, you'd think you'd just be able to make a male look female and a female look male and call it a day lol.

To imply that there should be same sex relationships or it's somehow discriminatory, would then lead to problems like "Why aren't there any Muslim holy sites I can make my character Pray to", "Why are there no Bibles", "Why can't I marry my droid", "Why can't I do more explicit things with my companions", etc.

 

If there ever is same sex relationships implemented my accounts will be cancelled.

 

Not because I have a problem with same sex marriage, relationships, etc. but because My children play this game and I do not need a form of entertainment to become that explicit about sexual relationships they cannot comprehend at their age.

Then you better cancel as they confirmed it'll be added. They wanted to launch with it, but they had some issues with Lucas Arts and they didn't get the go ahead until it was too late to include it at launch without pushing back the release date.

A very significant number of players in this game identify as gay or lesbian and would like to be able to immerse themselves into their character and play a character that they relate to. Every Bioware game that offers same sex romances functions in the same way--YOU choose whether you want to begin the romance, so unless your kids choose to play gay or lesbians characters, they won't be forced to deal with the horrors of homosexuality. Then again, I hope you turn their chat off, disable all social options and while you're at it make sure they don't watch tv or read a newspaper (there are gays in those too!!!)

Hate to burst your bubble there chief, but um, you folks seem to be in the minority here, I have just about every person that feels a need to expound their PRIVATE bedroom habits on ignore and it seems they're on the slim side in regards to the LGBT crew
