JaggedOne
I was delighted to get my wookie companion, not only because of the lore (and I was looking forward to getting rid of that whiny tree-hugger Corso), but because I thought I would be getting a monster tank to front for me. Now that I have him, I am disappointed to find that I spend most of my time healing him because he is so squishy. Yes, I went to GTN and got him the best gear I could find there. He has 6235 HP to Corso's 5825 (level 28), and 1968 AF to Corso's 1585. Anyone have any idea why he can't beat an equal-level Strong w/o heals, or why I can barely keep him alive against multiple simultaneous mobs ? Jcdew
It doesn't get any better. my wookie has 14,500 HP with 3700 AF and they still cut through him like a wet paper towel. I can take Corso with junk gear and he lasts longer than Chewy. Things just don't add up,I think a lot of bugs that are getting overlooked or ignored that affect the red headed step child classes. KryloKillian
Turn off his AoEs and try him again. He's not really squishy, it's just that Corso only really tanks one guy, but Bowdaar tanks all the guys. With Corso anyone you hit who isn't his primary target, or if you attack first, you share aggro with him. With Bowdaar he's using AoE taunts and attacks to make sure you can't pull anyone off of him without really putting some effort into it. No throwing a thermal detonator pulls 2/3rds the pull away. And, if you're using cover, you're probably able to tank most ranged enemies nearly as well as Corso/Bowdaar, anyway, so generally you get a bit more survivability in the areas right after getting the wookiee with Corso. But that's not because Bowdaar's a squishy tank, it's because Bowdaar takes a lot more hits for you. Personally, I didn't really have much issue switching off to Bowdaar, as he seemed to do a bit more DPS than Corso for me, and I was able to burn through enemies faster. Annnd Corso had already been showing some squishiness before hand, as I'd learned on Taris that throwing out my AoEs or attacking first pulled most (rakghouly) things right to me and that sucked, so I'd started using ctrl+1 to send him in first and only attacking his primary targets. Which left him dead a lot more than Bowdaar, because of the few seconds I wasn't burning through things after he had all the aggros.

Rown
I just got to level 50 using Bowdaar as my companion exclusively without much problem. Yeah, he does take a lot of damage and dies more often than a player tank would, but as long as you're not the one dying it's not really that big of a deal. As mentioned, you can try turning off some of his AoE attacks to share some of the aggro if you want him to live a little longer, but as a Sabatour I find it more efficient to have him keep the enemies nicely grouped together.
