[Official] Pyro PT Min/max Gear optimization

Recommended Posts

Hello world of Pts, I have been away from the game, I left my Vanguard behind and am rerolling as a PT.

As seen through out the forums there are many battles of aim versus power, i want to know the real arguments. I want current, updated askmrrobot profiles which compare and argue benifits of gains vs losses.

Don't tell me about augment, Aim all the way.

EDIT: I meant for this to be PvP btw

EDIT 2: Many I am sure have come to this thread in hopes of gold and have only found mud. To pan the nuggets out of the stream I provide you with my Askmrrobot: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/ad83d6bc-5306-4375-8a07-48a9ae448bd4

This is what I have decided on gearing My pyro PT in. It is not the perfect set up, I don't think there is one. I will argue any and all indifference's one may have about it.

If you know to use aim augments what are you even asking?

Don't use lettered mods.

Hey Kray, the title of the post is a bit misleading i came in here expecting a min/max pt guide but it turned out to be something else :p

I rolled a pyro pt week ago myself as i wanted to see what was all the hype about and i havnet gone back to my main since then. I know its a bit early but i been stacking power and aim which helps me take down target with a single rotation. I have already a collection of power/surge enhancement and mods that are waiting for my toon when he hits 50. As for augments i will definately go for aim as i dont want my main stat to be lagging behind others. here is what i will be looking to obtain once i get go 50.. Atleast 30% crit and 100% accuracy...And rest in power and surge. See you later on illum :)

The hopes of this is to consolidate all valid and useful information in one place.

Glad you like the class, See you on Illum!

That's my Pyro PT. Someday I will win the roll on the offhand, or I'll just get the bracers/belt from NiEC and buy the Agile Mod.

I've seen arguments for both going for the crit rating soft cap like I have, and also for going for only 220-300. As I am my DPS is fine for NiEC (no Warstalker title on this character as people keep dying in the sub 60 range). I'd like to see if I could push a little more out though, just in case I get paired with somebody on Stormcaller who is below what is needed to push the 20% to avoid the second DD. So I will probably be swapping some mods around.

The plan is, get the http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/gear/38297/hazmat-annihilators-mk-4-adaptor made as I have been lazy and haven't gotten it since we got the recipe. Once I get that I will swap an Acc/Pow for a Crit/Surge enhancement. That will increase power by 32 and surge by 3, and decrease crit by 27. Not a huge difference.

Then I just need to do the same for my Warstalker Mercenary. Really need to stop being lazy.

This is a terrible way to help players, provide askmrrobot or stats please.

I was mostly wanting to know what exactly you're looking for, as its still kinda indefinite. Anyone can build a profile over on AMR, but it just shows a gear set and a spec, doesn't contain any arguments or reasons.

My response was in reference to your comment about aim vs power, and since you mentioned augs already, I assumed you meant mods, which are the only other place to make that trade.

So yes, I wasn't particularly helpful. I didn't know what you wanted help on.

But as you've now mentioned PVP specific, I'll bow out. I don't really know PvP, and not at all on my powertech.

It is all good, Yeah, why I want AMR included in the argument is because it shows peoples set up, with the official stats to back it up.

People can easily say, oh i have 31% crit, 1050 tach bonus, 97% acc, and 76% surge. But they have nothing to back it up.

Pretty much as optimal as it gets.

Could switch the EWH relic for the DG Boundless ages, but i prefer the static power.

Why would you prefer the EWH relic? DG BA puts out more power per second assuming you pop it reasonably on CD, which isn't very hard to do to begin with. Its not very hard at all to use that on CD especially since it has the same CD length as Explosive fuel.

because since the TFB patch i've yet to be in any raid where i wasn't the top dps by 2-300. So i just stick to the ewh. I have the DGBA in my bag and use it for nim kephess but thats about it.

From what I have read and through alot of tinkering on Askmrrobot, this is what I have decided to go with for my PT

If you're actually looking for a guide on how to min/max PvP Gear for the Trooper Vangaurd and Bounty Hunter Powertech, then I might have the guide for you. I recently made a video guide going over the whole min/max process for the powertech/vanguard. This process of modifying your PvP gear will definitely unlock you true dps potential so hopefully you enjoy! I cover all specializations, so Assault Specialist/Pyrotech, Tactics/Advanced Prototype, and Shield Specialist/Shield Tech. Check it out the guide here:

Min/Max PvP Gear Guide:

NOTE: to save time I only used Republic Terminology when talking about talents, but the gearing should be generally the same for both factions through the whole guide.

I will be making more guides for troopers, inquisitors, guardians, bounty hunters, etc. so stay tuned!
