So I have noticed for a while this forum is not SSL protected, I thought for a little bit it was just overlooked, but now it has been a while. Get your **** together BW, it takes 5 minutes to renew a SSL. Or do you just not care about your subscribers personal information?

Yeah. The login and account pages are secured, the rest aren't.

Yeah but the question is, do they have the login or the account info on another server, or just a different drive, or sub domain? Because you can make sub domains with different IPs on the same server with different SSL. So someone could gain access to the accounts by following through the forum because it is not secure if they are set up this way.

And it is not like a SSL is that expensive. You can get one for under 200 a year. And view the source code, they are pulling from a sub domain off the main SWTOR website:

Also, when the forum is not secure, if someone uploads or is allowed to use custom icons/avatars, that can have malware in it if you are not protected by an SSL. I used to build e-commerce sites for years, and a good coder if your not careful, can come through an insecure page and infiltrate the entire site. Just saying it is sloppy as hell for a forum manager to allow this.

Yeah I guess you didn't see the part about me used to being a developer, so 0/10 for a sad troll attempt. I left that crap behind me close to 8 years ago when you could make money doing it, and bought a restaurant. I also find it hilarious people are getting their panties in a bunch about someone asking about an issue to possibly further protect personal info.

What the other poster said, not to mention that SSL was replaced by *TLS*. (Transport Layer Security)

Here, we can't.

SSL and TLS are only about server identity authentication and in-transit data encryption. They do nothing to protect against uploaded malware.

Security is a many-layered thing and transport encryption is only one element, and will not protect against badly programmed site structures.
