What's with this half-arsed manner of storytelling?

So, okay, Nathema. All this Zildrog mess and we've lost our fleet and our power, we are just at the beginning of KOTFE - with nothing in our pockets. Devs says, we are returning to our old fractions and All of Zakuulian Emperor/Alliance Commander background have been nullified to dust for that sole purpose - all bridges and flags have been burned, OKAY.

So we are already Imps and Pubs again... Right?
Oh, NO.
No, you are still the "Commander" - that's how you called by everyone on Ossus. You are still nobody to them, you are still alien stranger. No one is asking you back, all of them treat you like a stranger from another faction which was obliterated thanks to devs.

So devs just nailed the transition in the most horrendous way possible - they pissed of alliancers by taking away their toys and powerbase, nullifying all they've accomplished for two exp-ns (especially this hits darksiders who've chosen to become an Emperor), yet they still show you the middle finger and don't allow you to return to your previous place ot its equivalent. I mean for all of ***-pulled plot twists that I saw in the content of last years I'm pretty damn sure the lead storywriter COULD pull a solution to find a nice place for Nox, Wrath, Barsenthor and all of others.

But "**** all of you" said that guy: enjoy Malgus and don't think about anything else. Everyone likes Malgus, right, I mean, it's 2012 right now!

I would just time travel this mess away and go back to Ziost.

All of that is because KotFE and KotET have been a huge mistake from the start, the story of SWTOR never should have flowed into that direction. Why?

1. It was not a natural and logical continuation of the main narrative that was started by the class stories, RotHC and SoR.

2. The story pretended this was a single-player game, giving an "epic" tale (it wasn't epic at all if you ask me) with us defeating the great all-powerful villain and seating us at the top of things. That's what would have been the end of the story for a single-player game, but newsflash! This is an MMORPG, it doesn't end and has to continue. So what happened? The devs had backed themselves into a corner story wise, because if you let someone be the ruler of all and everything, there is so little you can do. What happened? We got a reset (thank the Force).

3. The concept of the Eternal Fleet being so infinite and powerful was ridiculous from the start and should have never had a place in SWTOR's story. It's an unbelievable and unoriginal concept that I am glad is gone for good.

4. KotFE and KotET removed from the story a core element that crippled the narrative severely the moment it was implemented: our characters' forced departure from our original factions. Our factions and our place within them were a core element of SWTOR's story, we had worked our entire class story to get there. What did the devs do? They nuked it, they made all our achievements in the class story worthless and forced every single class story in the same, bland, tasteless gray goo called "The Alliance Commander". No personality, no unique characteristics, nothing that sets one Commander/Outlander apart from an another. You play it on an Inquisitor, it will be exactly the same as on a Smuggler.

KotFEET crippled the game's story and repairing the damage that has been done is going to be hard and lengthy. In my opinion (and that of numerous of other players) they're finally going the right direction by abandoning the Alliance slowly and returning us to our factions. But even if they mend everything, there will always be a massive crack in the proverbial mirror called "KotFEET". Meaning, SWTOR's story will never be as great as it used to be before that monstrosity called KotFE was released.

i find FE and ET a chore to go through quite honestly, but if you want your own choices reflected instead of default choices assigned on Ossus? you got to endure the storyline, the alliance alerts, the heroic grind to rank 10 on alliance specialists so alliance NPCs don't complain.

In any event, assuming Bioware ever have the means to reach 6.0 some point this century? I'd be curious to know the fates of other characters that have gone on ignored way too long. a suitable ending would be nice.

You're confusing the game with reality.
Don't make silly threats of violence ("i'm going to burn down...."), no matter if you perceive them as light-hearted.
Silly little Sith Lord.
I like toast.

I've always found so cute when Vitiate calls Lana Beniko "little Sith", awwww, can you always call me like this? :з
I just imagine Chibi Nox with his famous line "I'm not cute, I'm deadly!" when he sounds genuinely offended.
Anyway the very reason I came to this game, I still play and LOVE it, no matter how I'm butthurt about everything across this forum, no matter how often I cancel my sub (to resub again eventually) - is Sorc gameplay. You can call me a sociopath or whatever, but frying people with lightning is the coolest thing in the world and lighnting itself is the coolest and dankest magic ever. Until Bioware nerf this class even further to the bottom I'm in this boat, no matter how badly will turn out story. Though I still will be loudly butthurt about it, nonetheless. :з

SCREAM, WEAKLING! YOU REALLY NEED TO LEARN TO PROJECT YOUR VOICE

This is why I play videogames...

Malgus, that washed up has been died to me in multiple ways back when the game had at least a better story. Probably why bioware showed no creative ability when they brought that joke of a character back. Hoping gamrs would remember a better time in swtor and not what is happenng right now As if Malgus was the uncreative way to go. In what is yet another terrible story move, we get agriculture and a copied and recolored planet and on old worthless villain. bioware has just been washed up mess since anything named Kot** and after with barely anything hitting a good mark.

The best thing we recently got was the hunt for the new datacrons. The rest was forgettable and that includes the story at the very to of that pile.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, the story has been half-arsed for a while. It's a good thing the original class stories still hold up because it's a shame what they have going on now.

I think it’s handled well tbh, much better than I anticipated. Im treated as the commander not called “outlander”. They respect me as such, my character does not bow to Malgus because I have authority as commander, I outrank him but sure lets pretend we are equal footing. Your not going to be suddenly put into the dark council or any empire stuff right away. You just got back with them. This is a prologue of you coming back, when the full story comes in you might join fully by the end of it your original faction. But right now they can’t put you right away with them when you can sabotage them. Not everyone’s characters feel like they are jedi or sith anymore so this is a way to make those characters still be their own thing.

Agreed.
