Do the devs track how well their creations sell on the GTN?

I ask because when I look at the CM, there's that popular items section--which doesn't seem all that popular. And then there are tons of unappealing armors and mounts listed as silver or gold that go for rock bottom on the GTN.

I ask because when I look at the CM, there's that popular items section--which doesn't seem all that popular. And then there are tons of unappealing armors and mounts listed as silver or gold that go for rock bottom on the GTN.

I'd say that the popular items section is more accurately "items we'd like to be popular", that is, things they think will sell well. Or things they'd like to promote without having an actual promotion (discount).

And the bronze/silver/gold/platinum thing is strictly a "rarity" class, and governs how often things drop from RNG packs. I believe it's something like:

* 85% of drops are bronze

* 10% are silver

* 5% are gold

* the rounding errors in the above are platinum.

And the specific item is chosen from the chosen class afterwards.
