Xorian-Lightborn
Pros Storyline is pretty good for the most part, there are plenty of class stories to play, and of course amazing voice acting. Combat is pretty good maybe not quite like eso or tsw but its still much better then most mmorpgs on the market. Lots of skills, many classes offer some kind of utility. An ok community, it shifts back and forth allot. Lots to do, with added bonus like ship combat. Can play to level 50 solo. Great pvp, seems to be farily balanced and fun. Cons and why this is not really an mmorpg to me No real leveling choices, to me an rpg should have leveling choices other then a few utility points I find this very shallow and very unrewarding, I hate it when a game chooses my stuff for me, if it was an adventure game I would not mind but it isnt its suppose to be an mmorpg, and considering I played knights of the old republic 1 or 2 I was expecting a bit more depth in the rpg area. Everyone rushing to end game content via class exp bonus, this quickly became a problem for me, as I like to group when I play mmorpgs, what is the point in having classes if you cannot offer anything unique from your class to others in a group setting it makes things far more interesting, I know I could still do ques but on my server its always to slow, and to be honest I really enjoyed doing herorics in groups before the class exp came out, and I subbed right before it did. Classes do not feel all that unique in this game, to many shared utilities between classes. The game seems to be heading in the direction of a even more casual market then most mmorpgs, and thats fine good for them but we have enough of these, I like mmorpgs to find a good balance between casual and more. The game is not very challenging especially with how easy it is to get comms and upgrade while leveling, now I know endgame is harder but to be honest im more into the journey of an mmorpg then endgame as endgame is the most shallow experiences ive ever had in mmorpgs. Now I understand why some of you enjoy this game, but im a seasoned mmorpg vet and was looking for something a bit different, so please do not take this personal, its a decent game if your into the features that I do not share with you. But personally id rather buy the secret world ultimate edition and solo the game as it does not have a sub or restrictions once you buy it and play that solo. Just my opinion. Goodluck and may the force be with you all.
DOHboy
what shared ability is there between a counselor and a Jedi Knight? You are confusing advanced Class with Class. You actually have more freedom to choose your abilities than you did before. previously you had a pretty set cookie cutter build for every AC Spec. Hybrids were NEVER (i repeat NEVER) meant to be an actual thing, are impossible to balance and just make the over all experience sub par for everyone (those playing with a gimped AC or those playing against the many OP Hybrid specs) it does seem this game is not for you so bid you good day and hope you find what you are looking for somewhere else. I am not confusing that at all, what I mean is many classes have a cc for example aka utility.
Rafaman
I get it OP. But rather then go through my resume of MMOs played and the pros and cons of this game with you, I'd rather just say check back in from time to time. This game has come a long way since launch and while the architecture and design will not change, it is fun to play especially in a group setting. For me, some games just stick and this is one of them. Even if there are better systems out there or other games implement shinies, I gravitate to certain games. Secret World was not one of those games for me, but hey, that is my opinion.
bdatt
Glad you stopped by to try it out at least. Regarding unique abilities those are tough to balance when you think about endgame (which you state you don't play, but many others do). For example troopers/bounty hunters have an ability that grants immunity to knock backs, pulls, etc. for a long time. They're the only class that has this ability, and it made certain operation fights much, much easier. So uniqueness has its challenges when it comes to fair balance. Not true at all ever heard of eq2? Many more choices while leveling same goes for rift and others but there mostly end game mmorpgs now days, so they dont interest me. Lol I hear you but honestly I played it recently on a buddy key and enjoyed the combat maybe it was improved but I really had no issues with it, its similar to guild wars to me, but the games strongest points is the questing, classless system, the world, story, voice acting, and the quests probably best ever in an mmo, oh and the co op/grouping is good to. You obviously dont understand what an rpg by genre is, an mmo rpg is just that an mmo rpg, it is not the exception when every mmorpg before wow had depth that includes games like star wars galaxies, ultima online, anarchy online, everquest 1, ashrons call, dark ages of camelot, necron, and so many more including newer ones like rift, wildstar, even guild wars has more rpg elements so again you where saying? Thank you for finally making a list of games that have what you want. Now go pick one of the list and play it. And for your information, RPG has a wide range so even though you think SWTOR doesn't have enough it's better than for example GW2. So it's a matter of gradation and not whether or not it's a MMO RPG. And even with that list, single player games still are better at RPG. But yeh, go off, and play one of those other games. Everybody will be better for it.
