I am a little confused as to meaning of Ranged.

Engineering sniper can apply a DOT (Corrosive dart) that increase damage dealt from ranged attacks.

But what is defined as ranged? We also have tech attacks.

For example MM sniper is mostly ranged, so this is clear, but what about engineering? Engineering main firepower is probes, so it is tech same would go for virulence, it would be tech as well. So does Corrosive Dart increase damage dealt by Interrogation probe or for example EMP Discharge?

 

And what about Sorcs, they hold a light-saber, which is a melee weapon, yet their attacks are done from 30m range?

 

So what is ranged attacks?

Range attacks are anything more than 5 meters. Melee attacks are 5 meters or less.

There are few melee attacks that had greater range than 5 meter but rule thumb is 5 meters.

When you do damage you have yellow and white numbers as damage. One of them is tech and the other is ranged. I forget which one is which it has been a while since I have crunched the numbers on that.

I'm pretty sure that devs are confused too, that's why they removed that tag from abilities descriptions back in the days
