Invisible Mechanics

I know there are similar posts out there, but most only adress one aspect.

 

I've been playing SWTOR for 3 years now. I've raided rather successfully until incl. Oricon NM (Brontes and Council NM both down within two months after release). Now 3.0 (especially 3.1) on the other hand is completely ridiculous.

(Temple of Sacrifice works as intended.)

At the moment I have (or rather miss):

Sparky: the first two adds just don't show up at all

Bulo: the old blue circles were visible, the new circles aren't displayed at all

Torque: the old fire and smoke were visible, the new fire is not displayed at all (not even for a fraction of a second)

(haven't been able to kill Torque since that because of this)

 

Colossal Monolith:

As it uses the same blue circles as Bulo, there is exactly nothing visible.

There is no cross: all colors are displayed on the same side.

 

I've re-downloaded the whole game last tuesday after the latest patch and installed the latest cpu and gpu drivers.

 

At the moment I'm asking myself why I'm paying for this broken game...

Obviously I cannot upload Screenshots of mechanics that aren't displayed. I recorded a vid of Torque yesterday and could upload it if it is requested, though I'm a bit reluctant to uploading 160MB...

i've your same graphic issues excluding monolith cross, where i just dont see the first white circles, but on laptop..on pc i'm fine beside torque and the bulo/mono circles. i didn't try to adjust graphics yet or change hardware since drivers and the components are up to date, did you try to play a bit with graphic settings? i've noticed some animations change and even if i doubt it will happen on instances you can never know..

I've tried all graphic presets to no avail.

 

Ridiculously, I just started up the game on my Linux Mint Notebook in a virtual machine - the fire is visible there.

(This probably won't help me much though, as the virtual machine just doesn't have enough punch for the game.)

 

On my desktop pc I just got some random guy to open up an ops group and pulled Torque for a recording.

This is how Torque's fire looks for me:

(The first fire comes by the time it kicks the current tank the first time.)

Currently the game runs on the "high" preset with borderless window mode.

sadly the only thing that comes to my mind is opening a ticket and see what they tell you. there could be some setting combo doing the trick, maybe try to load back a previous driver in your video card..

I know there are similar posts out there, but most only adress one aspect.

 

I've been playing SWTOR for 3 years now. I've raided rather successfully until incl. Oricon NM (Brontes and Council NM both down within two months after release). Now 3.0 (especially 3.1) on the other hand is completely ridiculous.

(Temple of Sacrifice works as intended.)

At the moment I have (or rather miss):

Sparky: the first two adds just don't show up at all

Bulo: the old blue circles were visible, the new circles aren't displayed at all

Torque: the old fire and smoke were visible, the new fire is not displayed at all (not even for a fraction of a second)

(haven't been able to kill Torque since that because of this)

 

Colossal Monolith:

As it uses the same blue circles as Bulo, there is exactly nothing visible.

There is no cross: all colors are displayed on the same side.

 

I've re-downloaded the whole game last tuesday after the latest patch and installed the latest cpu and gpu drivers.

Im gonna go out on a limb here, and I know that what I'm about to say may make some ATI fanboys mad, but have you considered switching to Nvidia? Lets be honest here, I'm willing to say that 85% of the graphical issues in this game do not exist on a rig running an decent Nvidia GPU. The only problem I have had with anything in this game has been with Underlurker's adds and their animations killing my framerate, but that problem appears to be on Bioware's end and not ours....

Potentially a problem, ATI drivers have been known, for a lot of games, to have graphical artifacts or just are downright bad. Not likely but I have heard of this issue.

Indeed, which is why I asked that question to the OP. I have a GTX 760 in my system right now and.....

The new circles are there for me. The only thing is that I wish they would have made the color a little more distinctive since Volley is covered in a similar color and it gets lost amongst Mass Barrage sometimes.

 

Torque: the old fire and smoke were visible, the new fire is not displayed at all (not even for a fraction of a second) (haven't been able to kill Torque since that because of this)

 

I see the new flame animations. They arent that great, but they are there.

 

I think your GPU is more than likely the issue here. I would go Nvidia and not look back. Just saying.

I run a ATI Radeon HD 5570 and saw the fire no issue. 1 shot the boss first try with the new inferno ;) with a hell of alot less lag with all those pillars of NOPE gone:D

As I have stated before, I updated my drivers last Friday and re-downloaded the whole game last Tuesday.

 

As a reference: Battlefield 3 never drops below 80 fps on very high settings and has no issues at all.

 

I know there are many people out there who recommend using NVidia cards for the Hero Engine. However, purchasing a new graphics card after just three months is not an option. Prior to that I was using a Radeon HD4850.

 

The problems started the day when they changed the circles of Bulo. From one day to another, the circles were gone.

Until that, I never had any problems with this game since I subscribed in 2012.

Now I can only deduct the circle positions of Bulo by watching the projectile trajectory of the volley cannon, whereas there is no clue whatsoever where Torques fire is located. (In my vid I didn't add sound - believe me if I say the nonexisting fire has nonexisting sound effects as well.)

It is not feasible to just go out and buy an new graphics card, at this point I would just blame the game. It runs on an outdated engine, AND is a 32 bit client which in 2015, just blows my mind. If this game supported 64bit client, it can run SOOOO much better.

I've never heard of fan malfunction like what happened to thousands of 8800s. So, I have to agree Nvidia is better at it than others. :p

Okay, can you please use Dxdiag and copy and paste the report from that here? That program you used for the stats in the OP only looks at the CPU, GPU and HDD. We need to see other things like RAM, OS, etc., to be able to make a better decision as far as what could be bothering your system....

 

You have a nice processor and a decent enough card(even though I dont care for ATI/AMD cards), so that's not the issue, so if you could just DirectX to check your system(via dxdiag), that would be great.

1. Click on Start Menu.

 

2. In the Run field, type in "dxdiag" and press enter. Click on Save All Information. Save that .txt file somewhere, open it, copy and paste the entire document to this thread.

With his current GPU/CPU setup, he shouldnt have to alter any of these....I suspect his issue may lie with his system memory or OS, but we wont know till he runs Dxdiag so we can see what it says.

Okay....scratch my requests above for DirectX. Clearly you dont have it atm.

 

I think THIS might be your problem. Im guessing you're running this on Kubuntu, right? Emulation of games like this are a BAD idea. They arent tested properly with emulators, so it could be stable one day and unstable the next. Also, DirectX is essential for just about every 3D application on a PC, so without it, you're going to run into problems.....such as the circles in the Bulo fight and fire in the Torque fight. DirectX helps your GPU render objects, so that's a possible situation.

Actually, there is the simple possibility that your graphics card may be busted. It could have bad VRAM, or a faulty process unit that causes some of these faults. The best thing to do would be to try a different video card - borrowed or bought.

(I'm assuming you've cleaned the dust out of the video card to keep it from overheating and it'd fan(s) is working.)

Based on what people in my guild have said, your problem is most likely the Radeon video card. There is a third party driver out there for the Radeons that can solve a lot of the issues. You might hunt it up and try that. Otherwise your best bet is to go to an NVidia card for this game.

I guess you're speaking of RadeonPro? I've already tried that (Catalyst Control Center doesn't let you change LOD Bias)...

 

In the meantime I formatted the second hard drive on my notebook and installed Win 8.1 N Pro x64 (Core i7 2630, GT540M, 8GB DDR3). Hence I can play Ziost and Ravagers now... But that's not really a solution, isn't it?

People claim it's the Radeon card... But as I know many people with Radeon cards without issues, this can't be all. There must be something else behind it...

Okay. I'm not saying that this is necessarily your problem, but it is something you might want to look at.

 

I want to break down a couple of things here.....

- Memory: 8192MB RAM. You have 8 GB of RAM in your system. That should be more than enough to run SWTOR and Windows 7 64 bit. You, however, seem to have a connected issue you may not yet be aware of:

This is the memory allocation for your Radeon 6950 GPU, and here we see an issue that could very well be one of your problems. The GPU has 2 GB of dedicated memory. It also(for some weird reason) is also using 2 GB of your system memory. 25% of your system memory. This is not good. You need to find a way to shut off that Shared Memory so that the system can reclaim it. Between the game, the OS and the GPU, you are using literally 75-80% of your system memory. Once the system starts running out of memory, it will use the HDD to transfer data, and that is a nightmare in itself. Whatever else you have running in the background is more than likely using the remaining 20-25% of memory.

 

Page File: 8207MB used, 8096MB available

 

Bingo! Your system is using the HDD/SSD as virtual memory and is nearly at the limit for the page file. Time for a memory upgrade, although reclaiming that 2GB of memory could also help.

 

My page file: 2711 MB used, 17316MB available.

 

See? I still have almost 15GB of HDD space for the page file, but it will never be used.
