HoboWithAStick
Seeing that everyone was posting their kills thought I would too. The Withering Horror Downed on 06/13/2013 8:46pm (MST) Also note we are aware you can cheese the adds with a sin tank but choose not to use this method. We also are not used to using the puddle mechanic, before we would tank swap on each burrow and have ranged kill adds. That method required a little more coordination but paid off with more up time on the boss. Unfortunately the adds don't reliably spawn on target anymore making this method no longer work. Thanks and take care ! Edited June 16, 2013 by HoboWithAStick

I wasn't thinking though I didn't screen cap the kill at the time with the UTC time or whatever time code they are using for it. HoboWithAStick
What?... I was saying our guild was not used to using the Red Circles to contain the adds. We would have tanks swap after each borrow run off to the side and call out when they hatched and have the ranged dps burn them down rather then having someone jumping in the circle after a bunch hatch out. paowee
Why on earth would you do that!?What he said  Also are there no 16-m nim dg council kills yet? :-| Edited June 16, 2013 by paowee
HoboWithAStick
Why on earth would you do that!? Well mostly because when pts went out for 1.4 the puddle mechanic almost never worked, we started doing this and kept with it. Also allowed the melee dps to never have to pull off the boss if we were running melee heavy.
namesaretough
Also are there no 16-m nim dg council kills yet? :-| I don't think many groups were running fri/sat. The lockout isn't over yet though!
SoyChulo
Why on earth would you do that!? Actually it is very simple. The adds have a spawn animation. The adds can be DPS'd while they are spawning. The adds can't attack, do damage or move while spawning. So if the tank that is about to give "birth" mouses over his debuff and gives us a headcount on adds to be spawned as well as the countdown of when they are spawning, we can have the adds nearly dead before they even begin to run around. So aoe the spawning adds and melee stays on boss the whole time till Jealous Male arrives. It is considerably more efficient and takes much less time than using the pools. With that said it does require the raid group to have good communication.

But, really weird. You can't even target some things until they are fully spawned (really annoying operator as a tank -_- )

For some reason the aoe does damage to the mobs during the spawn animation. We figured this out first week TFB went live. Really speeds up the fight and keeps ranged dps stationary as they don't have to run to puddles.
tahoeWolverine
How goes Dread Guards for <E>? Red circles are certainly a pain on 16man, not to mention adds.
SoyChulo
Truth be told first night we went in with an undergeared tank as a sub w/16man. Made healing brutal with all of the raid damage. About 1.5hrs spent. Spent an hour last night as 8m. Was much easier to manage. Comp was 2x snipers, merc, and sorc on dps. Actually spent most of the time trying to figure out how to protect the sorc coming out of lightning storm as he would get surge immediately after the storm hit. Tomorrow we'll have full 16m back in there for what we had scheduled this past week before they decide to postpone and screw us up. I will say this, we never considered skipping this fight. As has been proven it is entirely doable. Admittedly it is considerably harder as 16 with the final boss and those red circles that just magically spawn under you. The least little bit of lag and it is there and you've absorbed it before you realize.

SoyChulo
Personally I enjoy the fact that it is so difficult. It has certainly lit a fire under some of members that had become complacent. It's good for the raiding community.
tahoeWolverine
It is no doubt good to have difficult encounters. It's just a shame that Bioware decides that these mass add phases are the best way to challenge 16mans...first we had trenchgutters, now we have legionaires. Increased health, increased damage...increased fun!
