Sniper Theory Crafting for Engineer Max Sustained Damage

I am doing some simple calculations and trying to find the most efficient use of skills for *best case scenario* *sustained* *end game* damage. Basically I am using the GCD of 1.5 for a basis of a attack scenario, where one would be able to do an action every 1.5 seconds on the dot.

Halfway through I realized the 'technique' where you open with a snipe and immediately use Exp Probe could yield a better front end damage and cooldown cycling, yet I think it would be wise to not open up with such a huge damage amount for PvE as aggro would be a problem.

 

This is all based on the assumption that you will want to have all of your DoT/Debuff spells up as much as possible while keeping your energy over 60. It may not be wise to use abilities such as Plasma Probe on a Operation Boss, so obviously this would be inefficient if that is the case.

Just a quick question, where are you getting your damage value information? The reason I ask is, last I checked, there were no accurate sources of attack damage anywhere on the internet. If you've found an accurate source, please post it so I can take a look at it. Thanks!

I am not looking at damage per se, just at cooldowns and energy values. Knowing that an engineer has a lot of cooldowns and dots/debuffs to manage (corrosive, interrogation, plasma, explosive, shatter). So far it looks like you can go 'all out' for a while and will only have 10 or 15 seconds per minute of slightly less damage while you wait for emp discharge to come available.

 

Edit: I realize now how I should do the energy regen if it is actually on the second every second, it should look like this:

There are 6 regens here, one is procced by shatter shot from explosive probe, the rest occur on the second every second. The above timeline rounds the 0:04:5 line to 0:05:0 allowing for the 5th passive regen.

Since the point of combat is to do enough damage to take down your opponent, wouldn't damage value be a key factor in determining energy efficiency?

 

This is true, I do not have numbers for the actual damage of the abilities atm so this entire post may be useless. I just wanted to go ahead and theorize a bit before I get my hands on the game. It looks like it is possible to have little 'down time' in a rotation, with the first minute of combat 32ish seconds of that are max damage, 12-14 are minimum damage, and 16-18 are medium damage.

The Dots are energy hogs up front and then their cooldowns slowly normalize over the progression of the fight, making it easier to fit them into the rotation. This is assuming no latency and perfect execution.

 

The energy regen will be even more in our favor with the addition of popping cooldowns where there would be a lull anyway. These abilities would trigger the GCD and thus allow us a 'free' regen. I would assume it to be most beneficial to pop cooldowns/pots at a time when you would be closest to 60 energy and would normally just use Rifle Shot, OR right before using SoS since it allows for 3 seconds of 'free' regen anyway.
