First "tick" of Plasma Cell bugged?

As of 01.05 our plasma cell has been fixed

 

Trooper

 

Commando

Plasma Cell now correctly deals its damage 3 times per application.

 

I can confirm that our plasma cell now correctly ticks 3 times. The first tick is now present.

 

 

 

Below WAS the issue.

 

 

 

So I heard a rumour that Plasma Cell is gimped.

 

Off I went to Balmorra and shot a few bugs.

 

 

My Plasma Cell claims 1177 extra damage when it procs

 

 

3 WHITE ticks appear (default shots) then 2 YELLOW ticks (plasma cell proc)

 

 

OBSERVATION of YELLOW ticks shows that only two occur

 

 

Each tick that happens is 392 non-critting and above 30% health

 

 

That equals 784 damage or 2/3 of the claimed 1177 damage

 

 

 

 

In short, Where's the third tick?

 

 

 

 

In the below screenshots I'll summarise what is going on as I attack a mob with my default attack once and a plasma cell proc happens.

 

 

1) Untouched mob with 6650hp

 

2) I do (565+200+164) 929 WHITE damage. Mob loses 929hp and is now 5721hp. Plasma Cell has procced.

 

3) FIRST PLASMA CELL TICK, 392 YELLOW damage, mob loses 392 hp and is now 5329hp.

 

4) SECOND PLASMA CELL TICK, 392 YELLOW damage, mob loses 392 hp and is now 4937hp.

 

5) My Plasma Cell details claiming 1177 elemental damage, clearly untrue since only two ticks of 392 have happened.

I heard that rumor as well, however I never bothered to test it. Thanks for confirming, I'm mildly upset by this. I'm surprised I saw nothing for this in 1.2's patch notes. Hopefully a dev will read this and respond. I'd be incredibly surprised if they're not already aware of this...

I tested this with both, incendiary round and plasma cell.

And plasma cell is infact bugged and only deals 66% of it's damage and it is the first tick that seems to be missing.

 

Incendiary rounds dot seem to deal all of it's damage.

Yes its bugged and it gimps assault vanguard Ion Pulse. Without the first tick the ability deals no immediate damage and deals no damage until the 3 sec mark causing Ion Spam to lose half its plasma damage given that the gcd is only 1.5 sec. Its really a bigger deal then it appears since with the surge talent proc ticks can get up to 1k on crits which is quite a large immediate damage loss.

 

The Powertech equivalent works properly so its no tooltip problem.

Much like aoe markers were gonna get fixed so that they covered the area and instead they nerfed mortar volley's area? I bet they "fix" the tooltip and then decide to "fix" the powertech.

The DFA/Mortar change looks to me like it was done so that the minimum range couldn't be trivialized. In its current form you can stun someone in melee, channel it right inside the min range and hit them with it. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks it was part of their effort to nerf merc/commando healer damage, but more likely it had more to do with straightening the edges so to speak as far as presentation.

How do you not already know about this? We've been submitting tickets about this issue since BETA. BETA. YES, BETA. Do you just close our bug reports without reading them, then act surprised when people post about it on the forums?

A simple view of this thread -http://mmo-mechanics.com/swtor/forums/Thread-Powertech-Vanguard-DPS-Compendium?page=26- reveals that bounty hunters ion pulse equivalent procs 3 DoT ticks, one immediately, one at 3 seconds and one at 6 seconds. Therefore our plasma cell is 33% weaker than our mirrors equivalent atm.

 

How the Empire manage to have better abilities and animations on just about everything blows my mind, it's almost as if they've planted a saboteur in BioWare.

Yeah, cause is so hard to rename an ability, give it a different "look" but still with the same code... :rolleyes:

Well I'm starting to suspect Trooper and Bounty Hunter aren't mirror classes.

 

So different results and play styles on both sides that they seem like different classes. Atleast in pvp.

It's horribly obvious when you have parsers now.

 

When you use Hammer Shot you see 7 hits from Hammer Shot... and two hits from Plasma Cell.

 

33% of our DoT damage from that doesn't even exist.

 

In my case that means I'm missing out on about 600 damage (factoring in crit rate and multiplier) every single time it fails to work. Basically, up to 124DPS is not there (spamming nothing but HS to get highest possible proc chance).

 

To make it even worse it's the FIRST tick that's missing.

 

So when you refresh this 6s burn before it finishes with a High Impact Bolt that first tick fails to happen all over again!
