dark going to jedi jedi going to the dark

this just a ideal what if a jedi can go to the sith side and become a defect to the jedi order and what if a sith can become a defect to the jedi and

Talking lore-wise, a jedi with dark-side tendencies can leave or be kicked out of the jedi order, but due to being cloistered and brainwashed at a young age, few have the will and ability to survive on their own. Those looking for shelter among the Sith will be weeded out quickly, beeing seen as spies or weaklings that couldn't even make it in the jedi order. Those ex-jedi who would be able to prevail among the Sith have no need for either group.

For the Sith there is little reason to defect. The Sith have no doctrine that forces you to go against your beliefs for the greater evil. Being light sided is seen as a quirk that may provoke a few attacks from fellow sith thinking you're a weak and easy target, but the society as a whole is a meritocracy, and as long as your softhearted methods are successful, few will question them. If you went to the Jedi order, on the other hand, they would lock you away on Tython for endless lectures and probing until you break and turn to the dark side, confirming their suspicions.

Story-wise the Jedi and Sith classes have hardcore patriots as companions who wouldn't be very happy with you defecting. And finally gameplay-wise, I can imagine it would be a bottomless pit to try and allow us to switch factions, changing which areas we can access, which quests we can do and who is hostile and who isn't.

For a force-user It would be easier to simply start a twin of the char as the mirror class and pretend they defected and were sent to Korriban/Tython to prove themselves.
