10-49 do medals matter?

Hello

I am confused by the medal system. Sometimes I get a lot of medals, sometimes I don't. If I play as a healer, I usually get two. My pal whom I am healing will get a boatload. Do the medals matter in 10-49? I think most people vote for their pals and consquently sorting by medals does not seem to matter if people vote or not.

medals do not matter, they do not help you win the game in any fashion. What they do is give a bump in valor every medal is worth 50 valor which means over time people that can get a lot of medals increase their valor rank faster. This only matters because at valor rank 60 you can get battlemaster gear which is the best PvP gear.

Also something to note is you cannot have a valor rank higher then your current level. So really valor rank only matters at level 50

Also you get more commendations.

Which does matter since you can get the pvp weapons and pull off the expertise mods and have an all orange expertise set before reaching the Expertise (sorry level 50) bracket.

Its 5 commendations i think which isnt really enough to make a difference Usually during regular play most people will get around 4 medals and the top end usually gets 7 to 9. In pre 50 pvp The gap isnt significant until level 50 where it actually matters.
