Gilad Pellaeon, for being a BAMF who worked his way up from being an ensign on a convoy escort ship to Supreme Commander of the Imperial Remnant and then later the Galactic Alliance. 7 dedicated decades of working his way up to the top. Win.

I considered him as well. He moved up - and I don't think he did any "evil" career-advancing moves (aside from serving the Empire ;) ). He grew into his role, not desiring to rule, but desiring to serve.

and that's what I like about him xD He pulled himself up from the boot straps and made it to the top by the books (more or less. :p) And the Empire was kinda just a given, since his group was rolled into the Republic during the clone wars and by the time the Empire rolled around he had immense respect for the Republic/Imperial Naval machine. ^__^

I have to go with Jacen Solo. Back when I started reading the Young Jedi Knight series 12+ years ago I was introduced to the character of Jacen Solo and his portrayal in those books was very similar to my personality and thoughts. I know a ton of people hate the way he was portrayed in the New Jedi Order with the whole refusal to use the force and his some would say "wimpy" demeanor. But I have to say that a lot of what he went through in his life emotionally and psychologically I also had similar emotional and psychological feelings. I have always felt that I relate to him so I have always loved reading books that featured him.

I suppose. You bring up alot of valid points, but still, I believe Quinlan is the better. True, he didn't effect the galaxy on that scale, but you have to put into perspective the time period. Meetra surik seems to be the "right time, right place" Hero. If events hadn't churned out like they did, she wouldn't be anything special. She foolishly followed revan on his crusade, and only rebuilt the jedi because she was the only one left. There was no other option. Quinlan however, had to fight his own personal demons and still come out a jedi. He had been through alot more than Meetra had on an emotional level, and while never losing his connection to the force, he had to live through one of the hardest periods of history ever beared by the jedi: With a family.

A person does not wake up one morning and decide that they want to be a hero. A hero is born in the right place and at the right time. There is no other way for a hero to be created.
