What's your biggest SW:TOR fail?

These are always amusing so here we go! OK, the first two are mine but the last one isn't. It's still funny, though.

1.) Not realizing what those little triangles over NPC's heads were until after getting so far into my class storyline that the quest level was twice my own. ("Why is this game so hard?!?! Oh...wait...")

2.) Doing that Jedi Consular class story quest on Quesh where you need to free hostages guarded by multiple elites/strong characters and not noticing there were items RIGHT BEHIND THE HOSTAGES that help heal you during combat. The gear repair bill after that quest was...well, huge. I so glad companion deaths don't decrease their affection. Qyzen would have thumped me himself otherwise.

3.) My healing ability was severely tested during early release on Tatooine for the Heroic +4 quest where you need to rescue hostages. The quest is around level 24, I was level 26 (the lowest level of the group) and the tank was level 30. I can't remember what the DPS levels were. We'd get in, the tank would pull, I'd let him take and deal some damage to make sure he had aggro, then throw every heal I had at him...except that I would aggro the entire mob of about nine elites immediately after that first heal. I'd die, we'd wipe, and then try a different tactic. Every time, same result. At least a dozen wipes. No matter how much damage the tank did, I'd pull the entire mob off of him after one heal and the group could not pull them off of me. So we go back to Anchorhead and ask for advice in general chat. Here's how the conversation went:

[Tank; General Chat]: Any tips?

[Random player #1, General Chat]: How's your healer?

[Random player #2, General Chat]: What CC are you doing?

[DPS1, GROUP chat]: What's CC?

[DPS2, GROUP chat]: I dunno...lemme ask

/facepalm

At that point I don't think tanks have any AoE specific taunts. Best they can do is throw on taunt stance and hope what few aoe moves they have generates enough threat. Were you guys using any crowd control moves? Makes pulls with larger amount of enemies much, much easier.

Biggest TOR fail I had was during the heroic in the Black Hole with three other people. We blow open the door to get to the boss and the two DPS (Sentinels) force leap at the boss before everyone is in and an energy shield pops up, keeping myself and the healer out of the fight. Had to sit there and watch them wipe lol.

Had that happen in Cademimu once on the final boss, except with Mara's instead of Sentinels. I healed the Jug tank and he soloed the boss at level 22. And I we couldn't rez the Mara's because the door didn't open, the general just ran through it and attacked us (we made them say "Mara's are not tanks, I am a dps not a tank" before we rezzed them:p

HAHAHAHAHA!! I did have to chuckle at that one...partly 'cause I think I'd be one of those DPS who leaped right in. :D

As for the CC from my epic fail #3, I tried to Force Lift one before we went in but that aggro'd all of them faster than the tank could try to pull them. Yep, another wipe. The DPS had no idea what CC was so weren't doing any. It wasn't until we were getting ready to disband that they started realizing what they hadn't been doing and rattled off all of their CC abilities they could have used.

I was leveling up normally on my trooper, having fun.... Then on Tattoine, I started getting strange responses near the end from quest givers. "You are not ready for this mission.". (Something along those lines.)

I go... Oh well, I guess I'm not high enough level. Or... Maybe this is just bugged, since it's clearly showing the quest marker. I only had a little left on Tat, finish up and onto Alderaan.

I'm able to do a few quests on alderaan, but before long I'm unable to pick up ANY quests. I skip entire hubs, but at least my class quest is working fine. Mid way thru, even my class quest is now bugging out. I fire off a RAGE quit ticket to customer service.. And they get back to me: "you're only allowed 30 quests in your mission book". Oops.

Theyve updated the message since!

Soon after release, I'm doing Hammer Station with my brother. I'm tanking, he's healing, companions are DPS. We start getting near the end, and I cross this energy-looking bridge across a tube and pull a pack. Everything's going smoothly, the pack's nearly down when I notice my brother's toon is suddenly dead. So I finish off the pack, and run back onto the bridge to see what happened to him. Then the bridge disappeared and I died too.

I do a lot of space missions to help the levelling up process. I was on my 4th character, around level 28 or so, doing a space mission and my young daughter was watching me play. I asked her if she wanted to try. I loaded up the first space mission, the easy escort one, briefly told her how to play and then let her go at it. It was watching her play that I suddenly realized that you can queue up a group of missiles. I had been releasing them one at a time (right click fire, right click fire, right click fire...).

1) During my first days of playing i had no idea that you can pull the mods off orange gear. So, upon getting new ugly gear with a bit better stats, i just vendored lots of good looking pieces.

2) Same time period, wasn't used to checking in at quest hubs in order to Quick Travel there when needed, so had to run around a lot.

3) Didn't gear my first tanking companion in anything but his specific quest reward green gear and was wondering why is he dying in 2 seconds.

4) Screwed up a bit the last part of Inquizitor storyline on Alderaan by not helping one particular lady. Was upset so much that created a ticket asking the CS to delete my progress in the last quests (they declined me of course) and was even considering abandoning the character.

5) Didn't make any cool videos or screenshots along the way while leveling. That's one of the reasons why i'm leveling the same class again now.

6) Not really a fail, but still. When the white crystals were about to be removed from the game, i was a new fresh lvl 50 and didn't have enough credits to buy the top end one. So i have to be content with a cheaper less powerful version.

I bug reported the chest armor you get from the Revan quest on DK cos it had no stats and 8 armor value. Only to later realize the nature of customizable gear. (I still maintain it's not explained very well for new players, though :p)

I also at some point used shield and absorb mods on my healer, cos hey, it couldn't be bad to have a bit of absorb, right? :p

Lol! Ok, biggest fail on my part.

I'm cruising around Balmorra (pub side), checking my map for the next quest and chatting with guildies on vent. I see my next quest marker on the map and speed towards it. Suddenly I look up and I am flying off an elevator full speed, plunging to my death. The surprise made me "skreetch" like a little girl on vent.

My new gulid nickname... skreetch. Its even in the notes next my name on the roster. :D

Not sure if this qualifies as a fail but it was definately one of the funniest things ive seen.

I was on Belsavis space port about to take shuttle to planet and being the nutter i am (constantly jumping around - tapping space bar really fast) the load screen appeared briefly - then my toon was in space looking at the planet for about 3 seconds ,then i died and rezzed back in the space port.

It was a nice view for those 3 seconds.

I died while questing couple of times to the point where my field respawn was at something like a 10 minute countdown. I was so deep into the instance and so far from the medical droid spawn I decided to go make myself lunch and then sit and watch the timer go down.

For the last 2 minutes I litterally stared at the screen/contimplated life and when I was finally able to field respawn I accidentally hit respawn all the way back at the medical droid.

I turned off the game and started watching Supernatural Season 6.

Once upon a time this lone Jedi Sage was leveling on Voss when she stumbled upon this glowing plaque. Her curiosity got the better of her and she clicked on it. To date that world boss is responsible for the single biggest hit she's ever witness. Over 500,000 damage.

I am NEVER clicking on anything that doesn't have anything to do with a quest again!

1) Hitting lev 20, and then figuring, that there is a tab at trainer's menu, that let me train skills from my advanced class

2) Clicking on "mysterious Jedi corpse" on Taris

3) Figuring that you can get slicing money boxes not only from missions, but also from world drops

4)Learning at lev 50 that you can buy things like power conversion module and ECM for spaceship, so I could finally completed that Sullust Interception mission

Summoning the Nightmare Pilgrim on Voss because I thought it was a lore object:eek:

Running around on Alderaan lvl'ing up my Powertech(after I had been running around the planet the day before on my lvl 50 WH Merc because I wanted to get some commendations to buy something), see a lvl 50 Pub beating on a lowbie, and I jumped in the fight and was thinking "How is he resisting my shots?" then he stomps me LOL

Going to the wrong endzone with the Huttball.

Oh goodness. Yes, this. I felt like such a moron, I thought I was doing so well, too...

Not quite as bad but there was also the time I respawned at the goal line in Huttball and saw an enemy Jedi jumping into the pit and heading toward the goal line. "There must be someone stealthed up here!" I thought, so I start running around the edge of the pit looking for a stealther... only to be lept at by the ball carrier for an easy score.

I can only imagine how red my face was.

Interesting. Thanks to the OPer. I initially thought this was another flame thread but I think the idea is stupid things we've done...

Honestly, I think understanding the Healing, Tanking, Damage role was the toughest for me. I play RPGs all the time, but not really online ones (and didn't often group) so most of "fails" involve me interacting with the more experienced online players.

For example, during the Rakghoul Plague, I was helping out some players get their containment officer title an hour or so before the event ended (last chance really) and fighting a world boss. A group of imperials kept taunting the boss away from the battlefield and it would reset. So we'd have to do the same thing back to them...

Anyways, the players (most of them lower level than me) kept telling me to taunt the boss so I literally starting typing in taunts to it ;). ha ha ha! I had no idea I had a "taunt" power.

Happy ending, we defeated the imperials and got the title.

Lol! Love this^. Mainly... because it could and would have happened to me if I had found Nightmare Pilgrim before I knew what it was. :)

Got all the way through False Emperor, being super careful on the loot and then I accidentally end up clicking need on the final gear drop (nothing I could use) because my arrow disappeared and I was trying to get it reappear. Guy who really needed it was gracious but obviously very upset. Ended up spending 55K on GTN to buy him a simliar piece of gear as an apology...which was WAY more than I made on the run but I had to make it right in order to live with myself.

Another fail from me that happened not too long ago. We are in Taral V flashpoint HM. Easy peasy. I'm in there with a fairly newb group who are just getting HMs started. I'm the vet telling them what to do etc. etc. even though I'm Sent dps. We get to a confrontation with Elite Robots. The tank marks the mobs and we start the fight. The tank yells "gear!" I reply "nah man, I'm good." The tank yells "gear!" again and I say "don't worry about it. good gear will drop for you." We survive the fight and I'm wondering why the tank wanted to talk in the middle of the attack. And... as I'm looking at the dead mobs.... I notice that one dead elite robot has a GEAR marker. Only then did I realize the tank was telling me to CC the robot! Embarrassed.... I apologized to the group. Everyone laughed, including me.... but mine was half hearted. :)
