Keith almost said it.

I kind of get the impression that they got okay'd for a budget increase from EA, hence all the new server hardware going in. I'm hoping that it continues to have an impact on development, and loosens up the devs to actually dev more.

I hope thats true but I can't put much stock in that till something more significant happen in terms of content.

3 OPS bosses in 12 months is pretty pathetic and the tiny amount of content we have gotten so far and planned for the rest of the year is pretty slim to boot.

As far as new hardware goes. Didn't we just migrate to some new hardware a short while ago and things actually seemed worse around here hardware wise?

I hope you're right but I wouldn't take that bet if we were betting on it.

Well I have to add that since the increase in daily xp I have leveled up my command rank on my toons. I think its easy now. Before, I just had no interest. I hope the xp stays the same. If not well, I tried to make the most of it, and got a lot of gear bits for toons.

I also enjoyed the live stream by the way :)

Is 9 going on 10 characters at 300, cool? Is it Healthy? Is it fun?

Now maybe its great, get home from work and grind out the same content and exploit any bugs for 4 hours a night every night, as one character completes the dailies move onto the next and start on the dailies again. Is that considered fun? Kill 30 of this, smash 6 of those, all the npcs are in the exact same space etc etc till you hit 300 then start again?

Its great the producer plays the game, but is that what his vision for tor is and what he thinks the customers want. We don't need content, content is for people that have every one of their 52 characters at 300 rank, and then instead of content we just up the rank to 400 so they can have the joy and the wonder of 100 more ranks x 52. Thats fun right, thats good right.

Though this would explain 5.5. Rather than new content nerf classes so old content is harder so the grind is slower. That way more grind! More Fun for all!

"...I have 9 going on 10 level 300 characters...so I don't want to hear any 'thing' about it being too hard..."

He almost said it. LOL. I saw the pause when he looked at the camera, I am almost imagining someone off camera cringing as Keith almost said "...I don't want to hear any S*** about it being hard..."

I think the line you're looking for is.. He told people to L2P.. Didn't get to watch it live, but I did watch the saved version when I got home.. I almost had to replace my keyboard because of the pop that I spit out when I started laughing at that point.

1-hour tops...do Yavin, Oricon, CZ and Ziost and be done with it...it's not that much fun but those are the best bang for your time. With a group, finish more up...but never go more than an hour.

Riiight. I suppose you actually seen this fabled new hardware? Maybe you were there, when they bought it? Do you have screenshots?:D

You are all so optimistic, yet all you have are dev's words. Not the most reliable source of information.

Well they did say new hardware and better load times etc, and that they can handle more in the live stream, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

That's the word I was missing:

FUN

It was fun. The whole attitude seemed to be different for some reason, compared to streams we had in the past. Like some weight had been lifted off the team or they had reached a place where they were just kicking back and kind of enjoying the moment.

I like that about them. I hope we see more of that from Eric and see a lot more of Charles and Keith. Maybe we can have a NSFW stream where they can REALLY be themselves....LOL

And ERIC...yes, I am looking at you. Give Charles Admin access, yes that was one of my questions about his PMs.

There should be a rule: You show up on a stream, you are fair game to the rest of the community at large....LOL.

(I certainly hope that doesn't scare Charles off)

It's because Keith's a good manager. Quite unlike...three letters that mustn't be spoken. That guy was a fail and a half as a manager.

If I'm right, Keith solved my credit card problem back when he worked in Support(as a mini boss of sorts). If that really was him, he was ultra professional and really confidence inspiring.

I know another player who dealt with Keith prior to his new position - he had nothing but praise for him as well. I assume it was all THE Keith...

Yesterday after work, I decided to play. I had a choice. I could play my lv 70 sage and continue the grind from like CR 80 as many CR levels possible with all the CXP boosts and do dalies. Or, I could level up (regular levels) my somewhat new Shadow. Because I wanted to have fun, I leveled up my Shadow. I did the Taral V and Maelstrom FPs (the Jedi Prisoner quest), and had fun. Dalies can be fun, but trying to work through all the dalies with the bug feels like "work". And I wanted to have fun, not work.

You can do those FPs and get very decent CXP on your 70, right? How is doing them on a lowbie "fun" and on a 70 "not fun"?

The problem isn't doing the FP.

It's doing it again, and again, and again... Without any real incentive or reward. You don't actually receive new ability by leveling up your CXP, you just gain a crate that could very well have only crap in it. Congrats, you've completed the FP. You got a command crate by doing so. Now, complete the same FP again for 250 times with the same character. Now you're at lvl 300. Was it fun ? I don't find that fun personally. It's why peoples prefer the leveling of non 70 toon, because there is actual changes, new things that comes along the way.

The problem isn't receiving CXP, the problem is more about "doing the same content over and over" without new ability, only a small chance that you'll get the specific gear piece you were looking for. If I wanted to waste money on RnG, I would go to a Casino instead of SWTOR. This way I would have the randomness I'm looking for, for even less time spend. :rak_03:

The idea is that on my new Shadow, I am leveling him up and going through all the vanilla content, getting all the lore entries in my log, the XP, and going through the story. And, running the Jedi Prisoner FP quest line was "just taking a break" from doing the class stories. Mainly, because that's how it was originally intended.

The CXP rewards are way too small.

The RNG is way too RNG.

The majority of the content we are expected to do it all with is already way too old and stale.

The recent spate of Nerfs have had no purpose other than top make already stale content seem less boring, when in fact they make it more boring because we know that prior to the nerfs we could do it easier.

And to top it all off all that happens if you are one of the fortunate few to get a full set of new end-game gear is that you are approximately as powerful in relation to the content as you were BEFORE this fuster-cluck started.

Is it any wonder that the game is hemorrhaging players?

Keith totaly said it, "Learn to play".

But he didn't say "kneel before the dragon of zakuul", so i'm not sure if i'll learn to play.

More seriously, the problem isn't getting any number of 300 command rank characters, it's how tedious it is.

Especialy if there had been no cxp bug.

The system isn't that bad, it covers a lot of activities, and you MAY get gear.

But there's no way i'll push to 300 on any toon. (I still don't know what i got from building my alliance to 20, so i'll pass on this)

We're just telling you it's too grindy/boring for what we get in return, Keith, not really a l2p issue ;)

I love that Keith answered the question about how how many CXP level 300 toons he had with (and I am paraphrasing b/c I haven't watched the stream again):

"...I have 9 going on 10 level 300 characters...so I don't want to hear any 'thing' about it being too hard..."

Whenever Keith posted in the past about his Command Rank 300 characters, it was always followed with using (100%) boosts.

While update 5.5 fulfilled major requests the community wanted (Server Merges, Legacy Currencies) - let the record show the major high point for expansion 5.0 was an unintentional bug which granted 1125 CXP for certain planetary dailies.

The second major high point(s) would be the Double CXP events(s) last Labor Day Weekend and July.

Hopefully with 5.5 we can put the past behind us and enjoy the new merged servers and what should have been the high points of 5.0: Iokath and Umbara along with the operation and two new strongholds.

So you want to hit max cxp level with max gear on a character in 20 hours? Then what? Or you want a game with 300 levels where you're constantly getting new abilities and feeling more powerful in a game with 50 flashpoints in it so you don't have to repeat the same one more than a couple times? Think it through. People that expect to play a few hours every day with fresh content and noticeable power upgrades coming every day for several years straight and uninterrupted are not being rational.

Does the OP seriously think that rehashing the merit of the GC/CXP/RNG debacle now will somehow make it not as bad just because someone who is paid to promote the game said something nice about it in a stream?

Have all the subs that fled at the advent of 5.0 come streaming back to the game, overjoyed that this wondrous thing called GC was still here?

If you wanna kiss up to the Devs, go right ahead, but try not to oversell the lipstick on a pig. We're still not buying it.

I never said that, so no point in me responding to it any further.

Or you want a game with 300 levels where you're constantly getting new abilities and feeling more powerful in a game with 50 fps so you don't have to repeat the same one more than a couple times?

Except you do NOT get any new abilities while leveling CXP Levels, new abilities stop being awarded at max Normal Level, the Command Levels award only RNG Loot boxes.

People that expect to play a few hours every day with fresh content and noticeable power upgrades coming every day for several years uninterrupted are not being rational.

I never said that either, so no point in me responding to it any further.

Think it through.

I did; but it seems you didn't, as you made rebuttals to points I never made.

Well done.
