i have a lvl 41 commando and for all my quest i never have to use stims medpacs heroic moments or shields i speced in gunnery cause assault specialist does to little damage and cost to much ammo and that one for vanguard so i can see that the vanguard would destroy and vanguard cause vanguard can take a hit but like jedi sentiel or dps have lower rated armor than guardians and my commando can wear heavy armor and he can really do some damage so anytime a commando fights a vanguard a commando would absoulutely dominate and destroy him.

I'd say yeah, that's a good insight. Parts of the class are very reminiscent of Ele Shams. The biggest difference is shams always had much more general and group utility, with one of the best short ranged interrupts, while Commandos have almost none.

In that way, they strike me as a kind of ranged warrior -- nukes, lotsa damage, simple rotations, and almost no utility at all.
"Sounds like you could use a soldier."
