^ This. Just talking about it pretty much says "We gave up on our promise to regularly update the CE vendor" .... :(

As a CE owner, I don't see the vendor being up dated, and I have felt that way since F2P went live.

That said, if the vendor was updated, I wouldn't be shocked if you had to 1) Own the CE and 2) Be a(n) active subscriber. We get what we want, BioWare gets what they want.

Aside from that, I can see BioWare making those items available to everyone else. I feel it's a when NOT a if. Hopefully, if it happens, it'd be like the Cartel Store: someone who owns the CE buys the items, waits till the time runs out, and can do with them whatever he/she wants. That way the masses can have them, but it's still rare like the mask of Nihilus or the the thrown chair mount. To me, that's fair. But that's just my two cents.

Too much seems to be long long way away.

It feels like the team is much smaller than they are saying on and with the recent companion and HK-51 not appearing with equipment for some people upon completion of the quest that the QA team is also very small. Would have hoped that Mekab would have been much further along as well as open world PvP and the SSSP or 3D space as we like to call it.

While F2P has helped to add players to the game and likely revnue where people have subscribed and purchased boxes etc for people that have playing for the last year little has really been added to the game and after a year I doubt many people could be overly blown away by the updates. An Operation or two, a few new Dailies and 1 new companion.

No progression in the story, most of the new solo quests being text based, the removal of open world PvP, no additon to any of the specialist vendors (CE, Security, VIP etc), only one new armour, one new companion and very little added to the Legacy (after much hype). And yet the people running the show seem to have little urgency and only thing that they have a time frame is more cartel boxes with new rare loot.

I am really happy with some of this stuff.

Even though I resubbed I think the quickbars and character slot addition are great for preferred players. My wife doesn't play as much and she wanted to try again but her level 41 marauder has too many skills for 2 quickbars and she has more than 2 characters as well.

These two changes put a smile on her face and she will give SWTOR another shot when this update comes

I'm with you. Although I subscribe to the game, the wife has work and college and won't subscribe to any MMO currently due to extremely heavy time restrictions on when she can manage to play. Right now, she plays DCUO with me as a Premium, which works out great as she only has to buy a DLC once every 3 months or so for $10, and the occassional 25k Escrow withdrawal for $4 if we do a lot of raiding over there with the guild.

She has a strong interest in coming back to SWTOR so she can to play with me and continue our Imperial duo, but didn't see a point with some of the restrictions. The quickbars and character slots were enough for her, when I told her. Things like hide-head-slot or display Legacy name/title are still stupid restrictions, but I guess I will just use my coins to unlock them for her.

Not sure how we feel about the purple gear restriction or XP/vendor restrictions.

Of course, she is not going to be nickle and dimed on XP boosters just to keep up with me, that's for sure. She is working on post graduate for business, she understands these things inside and out (trust me on that one), and she knows a money grab when she sees one. So, we'll see how her preferred plays with my subscription. If the XP becomes problematic, she's just likely to leave without ever giving EA a dime in the shop for anything. And she has no issue spending in the cash shop for a game. She does in DCUO for styles, replay badges, and Legends characters all the time.

For me, it's stuff like this that is killing this game. Sure, they give us a small feature update or two, but so much more is cloaked in shadow. The lack of information on future content is disconcerting to say the least. Sure far future projects (like the space project) would make sense to keep under wraps. Too many things could change as it is being developed.

But why can't they tell us what those 'mini-game' like activities on the new planet are? Sure, it may change at the last second, but I would much rather know about something and it gets pulled rather than not know anything at all.

I just look at the Final Fantasy 14 MMO. When that came out, it failed. It failed hard. They brought in a completely new dev team and they worked their asses off to basically build a new game. I really have no desire to play it, but my friend was following it closely and the amount of information that flows out of that dev team puts this to shame. He talks about it with excitement. What can I say about my game? "Oh, uh... new planet coming out... eventually. Don't know what will be on it. It might be cool."

The biggest thing is that they are HONEST and UPFRONT about things. To the devs: Please, please, PLEASE share your ideas! Shoot for the moon! I want to hear all these great ideas you have planned. You have nothing to lose by sharing them and a lot to gain. Sure, some ideas may prove unfeasible and it may be disappointing when an idea fizzles out, but it is completely understandable.

Future ideas build excitement for the game, as they are something to look forward to. That is, in my opinion, one of the big issues with this game. There is very little excitement towards this game. Tear down the Dev Wall and rip away the Iron Curtain that separates Dev from Player.

Making a species that is already in game into a player species is very expensive? Sounds like lies to me tbh.

And the Life Day stuff? You're getting inspiration from SWG now? Little late isn't it? :/

Not thrilled about the information here. Thanks for the hard work though Dulfy! :)

  • The F2P model is bad.
  • The communication with the player base is abysmal
  • They are wasting our money (subs and CC alike) on ashaming features: one full team to space content
  • They aren't any close to focus on V.O. class content
  • Each iteration of PvP fixes made it worse than before

P.S. your friends deserve games in which the producers care for them like in Rift, GW2, Wow and so on.

#1 Did you read the interview? Both Jeff and Damion stated that metrics are up for SWTOR across the board since F2P. While the model may be bad for you, it clearly is not for BW/EA.

#2 I don't think the general communication is that bad. However, the Customer Service/Support is horrid.

#3 Was just a few months ago that BW did an official poll of what type of future content players would like to see. Space content won by a mile. So while you may not like the proposed content in the future, it's what the majority of players voted for.

#4 We don't know this for certain. The HK series had new VO and BW renewed their contract with many of the voice actors a couple months ago.

#5 PvP is a bit of a mess, but the proposed changes and new WZ in 1.6 definitely look to make it better.

So based on the above, you just seem like a glass is half empty type of a person. Not sure where you got the facts or information for a lot of the conclusions you made, but most are flat out wrong.

Regarding other games, GW2 was a HUGE disappointment and is only worth bothering with for the RvR. WoW is straight up garbage (Pandas lulz). Rift is the only good game you mentioned. That game is pretty awesome.

If you think about it, They'd have to do the species animations for every cut scene // story scene in the entire game. I'm sure this is where the problem is.

They're humanoids and they are already in game. I don't really understand how there is anything to add except for a few extra appearance options. Not getting at you, I just genuinely don't understand it :S

I think if I remember correctly he discussed the customization of each creature. So creating the 4 different body types, 6 eyes, multiple complexions, etc. Then making sure the body types work with all animations. I'm not 100% positive about that but sort of recall it.

Yeah but the body types are in game already. Cathar use the same 4 body types as Humans, Purebloods, Zabraks etc. The only work they should really need to do is add more options for character creation, but that should just be recolours and what not.

So no more new species unless the Cathar does well in the store?

Couldn't you have picked a species that didn't suck to use for this determination? I'd prefer more species, but I'm not wasting cartel coins on an awful species like the Cathar.

lol this my fav part of the interview.

"Jeff: We take bugs seriously. We have a large community organization that doesn’t just include Q&A professionals but include everybody in the studio that pays attention to what our game is like and the quality of our game. We take it very seriously and we want to provide a quality experience to you guys. You deserve it and the game deserve it."

Aha.. so cuz they take bugs that serious, is the reason why we still have bugs in the game that exist since release, The explaination of the last patches bugs. That we only noticed them cuz they were so obvious. Well dear devs, whats with the dual-blade lightsaber issue? Thats an obvious one too and its still not fixed or the Taxi disappearing in flight, or after destroying quest targets the char keeps th weapons in its hand even after getting on the speeder.

These might not be game breaking but damn those are in the game since over 6months now and still not fixed.

Because their item team is too busy creating items for the Cash shop that is going to get updated on a weekly basis. They arent going to bother with the CE store when they can charge extra for that kind of content.

#1: They have made the worst F2P model MMO wide. Glad they like it. Still the players should be the one enjoying it.

#2: Compare it to what you have in other games like Rift and well... /cry (note: even FunCom is doing better)

#3: You forgot to insert "free roaming multiplayer 3D", Then I would totally agree with you.

#4 V.O. is too expansive and takes too much time to make. So yes you will get some V.O, content from time to time but it will be very thin or very... delayed? Check the official interview here

#5 You are generous ;)

Note: plz point me at the proposed changes in 1.6 because I don't see them.

From the PTS 1.6 patch notes

Imperial and Republic Fleets.

PvP

•Lowered the requirements needed to gain the Offense and Defense Bronze medals. Players now receive each medal the first time they receive associated objective points, regardless of the value.

I mean, improving PvP?

To me: still a stun fest and well Gunnery Trooper si still lame and there's not even a try to balnce PvP anymore.

Weekly basis for the holiday with items already in the game files then it's monthly.

Very informative Q$A Damion and Jeff were spot on.

We know BioWare cares about us. It's EA that doesnt..

You are right: blame EA for having given $200 millions and 6 years to make a subpar MMO when others studios would make at least 3 AAA MMO with that.

Welcome to the TOR forums, where people willingly pay $15 a month to bash a game that they don't like.

  • Cathar have been begged for since Beta
  • This news is old (Cathar being the first wave via Cartel Store)

You opinion is NOT fact, so sorry.

Purely speculation obviously, but here it goes anyway...certain species may require changes to dialog throughout the game and/or redesign of some missions.

The rewards and the idea of using it as an in-game event were used in SWG. They got this idea from SWG.

EDIT: Except SWG did not make us pay to gamble for the rewards.

I don't think so, they keep the species as close to Humans as they can to avoid having to adjust pre-existing content.
