Valreen
why cant we have new classes to play like an emperial commando or an emperial vanguard the class referral is shot vanguard and powertech is bull is should be gunslinger - powertech both are useless and under powered and in my point of view both are weak classes to play it should be vanguard - sniper not the way you have posted the class similarity on the class page
dr_mike
Staff has said that they're not going to make changes to the original 3 chapters which would be required if they added in new classes. If you use the Search Community function and search for 'new classes' you should see previous discussion on this topic.

Mithros
you dont have to make changes to chap 3 just make a whole new charater line remember the roleplaying books if you go this way turn to page 3 if you go this way turn to page 16 if you go dark you stay with the emperor if you go light you go renegade and make a band of rebels to fight against the emperor my god man/woman do we pay our subs to let you get fat and lazy or do we play this game for enjoyment use your imagination why do we old people have to come up with the ideas you young people should be thinking of no wonder why the world is screwed with people like you lot How is "making a whole new character line" not changing chapter 3? Also, new classes cost $$$, and they have to make two of them. Making an Imperial soldier is all well and good, but the Republic would have to get something like a "soldier of fortune" class to balance that. So now that is dialog for two male characters, two female characters, and ten class companions over three chapters of story, not to mention the NPCs in the class stories. Add in that you think that going dark or light would create an all-new third chapter for every class and it's that much more. Still, even dumping that idea it's still a lot of work to produce two class stories. Now, an Imperial soldier and Republic soldier of fortune would actually be easy in the sense that they wouldn't have to add any extra classes since these could fill all three roles (I am assuming trooper and BH clones here, only working for the opposite side of the originals, as that would be the cheapest and easiest way to go. Introducing new mechanics and animations cost more time and money). A smaller problem is that all Imperial heavy looks are either "Sith Lord" or "Bounty Hunter" except for three... The GSF sets that some older players may get and the Imperial armor for sale in the CE vendor store. So since they can not just make those armors more widely available as they are, they have to come up with some new designs. On the Republic side it wouldn't be quite so bad; They could simply introduce some variations of the BH gear on the Republic side for their soldiers of fortune to wear. Not as time consuming, but still something that has to be done. There is only so much time and money. Making these new classes and stories takes away from adding new stuff for other classes. Just how it is. So here, in the simplest possible terms, is the question: New class stories or more stories for every character of every class? The path that they are on now, however flawed, is the better of those two choices. It's much less expensive to continue to produce new content, as well as being faster. What I would rather they do would be is to create two new stories for everyone going forward; One story for force users and one story for tech users. Rather than trying to make a story that fits for smugglers and soldiers and Sith, make one story that fits for force users, which is basically the stories they have been telling, and an alternate story for the soldiers, agents, hunters, and smugglers. Yes, it's twice as expensive. Yes, it takes twice as long to get it into the game. Yes, it offers twice the opportunities for bugs. But on the up side it makes it easier for them to tell stories that make sense, as well as giving players a legitimate reason to be playing at least two alts rather than focusing on only one character. BoySaber
By them being new advanced classes and not new basic classes, they can add new play styles into the game without changing story and ships. Torvai
Staff has said that they're not going to make changes to the original 3 chapters which would be required if they added in new classes. They could simply add the classes and give them the same class story. For example a new jedi class simply does the knight or consular story. Or they could do it like wow did and does with new classes, simply have them starting at a certain level and go right for KotFE and KotET. Both these solutions fix the "A new class story would be too much work" problem and they are easy as hell to do. But I guess that's the problem with Bioware. They don't like simple solutions to simple problems. They like complicated solutions to nonexistant problems.
Andakim
If they are willing to do it, they can do it! Don't need to speak about problems (such as not changing the game until chapter 3, as someone said here), but solutions! One possible solution to introducing new characters could be the start at lvl 60 or 65 (i.e. Death Knight in WoW). This character would be able to play the previous general and exploration missions (which are the same to everyone) but wouldn't have a previous story line. Also, would be amazing to have a droid "race" (not like the cyborg), since droids take a huge role in SW story. To make things even better, make that new character a droid
