Well, with the coming of Patch 1.3 and "Star Wars: The Old Republic: Annihilation", what potential story updates could there be?

1) Drew Karpyshyn says the book takes place after the endings of all the class stories.

2) Patch 1.3's got peoples' attention.

3) The Emperor is "dead" and the Sith Empire are leaderless and want revenge.

4) The Treaty of Coruscant is broken, thus starting the Second Great Galactic War.

Icecream shop being opened by Malgus! :D

In all seriousness, we should branch off on the "Malgus is the new Emperor" until eventually the true Emperor returns in a new body.

Future story content isnt going to be in 1.4, that will be the companion story content. What we know is that there will be more class story imbetween now and end of the year( as stated in the Q & A). I believe that the story content will come right out after the book is released in November(?).

So, book is released and we find out the new power structures of the Republic and Sith Empire and whats been happening in terms of the main characters..then shortly after Bioware releases the story content which happens directly after the books events. A perfect way for Bioware to tie in the new class content with the book

When i said "dead", that basically meant that the Emperor isnt dead. The Republic believes he is dead, but the Hand and Wrath know he isnt

From another Thread

It starts after act 3 and ilium.

The Republic is pushing the Empire back on all fronts due to the aggressive strategy put forward by the new Chancellor. The Empire is resorting to scorched earth in order to slow done the Republic and give them time to bring in fresh Alien troops to fortress worlds, such as Duro.

Meanwhile the Republic is focusing on the Core and Inner rim, The Empire establishes a secret base on Byss and the then lunches a devastating assault on Tython destroying the jedi Temple and the ecosphere, ie turns in to a dust bowl.

Master Shan disappears, and when Garza wants to Strike back against Byss, will leaving the rim vulnerable, the Chancellor tries to have her removed. Garza then arrests the senate and the Republic falls into civil war.

Act 3 is the Empire consolidating it's positions,

while the players learn that the Emperor is planning to kill everyone.

While the Republic class capture Garza and prepare to fight the Sith Empire,

note most Republic classes don't know the Emperors plans, so they just prepare to Fight the Empire as a whole and not the Emperors supporters.

But the Sith Empire had been consolidating their power after the Treaty of Coruscant was signed. They even recently took Taris from the Republic. Shouldn't there a stalemate between the Republic and Sith Empire at this point in the Second Great Galactic War?

No

They are losing they lose Corellia and have to with draw from the Core worlds including Balmorra, the Dread Masters Turn on them and then Regius (the Ilium Grand Moff) goes rouge, so there is no stalemate the Republic is winning at the end of the game.
