Hello everyone!

Here is a fresh update on where we are at in terms of hitting our schedules for the Summer of SWTOR, and a recap of all the exciting things we have in the works for the months ahead. The usual disclaimer applies that all of the below dates are the dates the teams are shooting for. As you saw with Game Update 2.2.2 which had to be moved back by one day, it’s entirely possible these will move!

On July 23rd look for a return of the Relics of the Gree Event for a two week long run:

  • Per community request the event will scale up to level 55 on this next run, including better loot rewards, commendations, and achievements
  • Possible drops include a new Sphere Transport Enclosure vehicle

August 6th is still looking good for Game Update 2.3:

Players can look forward to the namesake of this update, Titans of Industry – a story arc that encompasses two new Flashpoints at level 55: Czerka Corporate Labs, and Czerka Core Meltdown. CZ-198 is a major weapons research and development facility under the direction of a power-mad Czerka Corporation scientist named Rasmus Blys. In addition to two Flashpoints where players will confront Rasmus and his creations, CZ-198 offers new daily missions for players looking to earn credits, commendations, and reputation rewards. The new Flashpoints are available in both story mode and hard mode. In order to ensure you can jump right into the action, we’re trying something new. The story modes for the new Czerka Flashpoints are role-neutral, which means Group Finder will match you with the first three players it finds, regardless of your group role. Hard mode will of course require a fully balanced group, offering new challenges for you and your friends at level 55. CZ-198 offers some great new reputation rewards, including new Czerka adaptive gear, mini-pets, some incredibly powerful new droid companion gear and schematics, and the Czerka Executive Cruiser – a luxury landspeeder that oozes style. Also in 2.3 we are introducing the new Companion Character Treek, a deadly and resourceful killer who also happens to be an Ewok.

August 13th is our target date for our next all new event: Bounty Contract Week!

Bounty Contract Week provides new missions with full voice-over that will take you on a hunt for high-value bounty targets across the galaxy. Each bounty contract scales to your level, from 15 to 55, providing experience, credits, commendations, and reputation with the Bounty Brokers Association. Players will have opportunities to interrogate informants, make dark and light side decisions, and kill or capture their ultimate target. Each time you take a contract, it has a chance to play out a little differently, depending on the information you gather during your hunt. Once you’ve completed enough contracts, you can accept even more dangerous missions to take down notorious crime Kingpins! Rewards include a new mount, new adaptive gear, and a unique companion customization for HK-51! Completing bounty contracts can also earn you achievements which unlock special legacy titles, and even Cartel Coins! Bounty Contract Week is a monthly event, so if you miss it the first time, don’t worry – it will return next month!

October 1 is our target for Game Update 2.4! This update is shaping up to be very big:

  • The Planet Oricon, a short story arc that will bring you face-to-face with the Dread Masters.
  • New Operation: Dread Fortress
  • New Operation: Dread Palace
  • New 4v4 Warzone Arenas
  • New Elder Game PvE and PvP Gear

This isn’t an exhaustive list, and we are also working on several longer term initiatives. As we get closer we’ll have a lot more juicy details on these and on what’s above. Keep your eyes peeled to the forums and SWTOR.com for more information!

Thank you for the update. I have one request, though. Would you please be so kind and shed some light which game update chat bubbles are currently targeted for? Many players that have been waiting (im)patiently for that feature that has been one of the top requests in the suggestion forum to be added since launch or even earlier would appreciate it greatly. Thank you very much! Edited by Glzmo

the wording on the first bullet point for 2.4 is unclear is oricon going to have a story arc or is dread fortress and dread palace the story arc like how scum and villainy would be denovas story arc

I assume its just the operations are on that planet

I'm pretty sure they already said no to chat bubbles many times already.

Aha, so we ARE getting actual smaller group arenas, interesting. I'm assuming these are just the same maps with less people, or are they new maps?

I'm happy to see 2 operations. I'm guessing they may have originally planned for one bigger one, but I like that we will have plenty of choices now to choose which operation we want to work on without feeling the pressure of having to finish a really long one in group finder if things don't go as planned.

uh...so...4v4 "arenas" is all you have slated for PvP? Bruce....who's asking for SMALLER warzones?! We need/want MORE warzones, not smaller ones.

So the "big" PvP update is a singular 4x4 Warzone, and a new tier of gear to grind inn the same old other warzones?

No new Huttball course? Jeeze, the only original PvP content you have and we've only had 1 stinking course to play on in 2 years since launch.

No cleaning up the PvP system? Bolster is a complete mess, and in a smaller warzone it'll be even more glaring....Resolve is a disaster and should have been replaced within the first year of launch, and expertise is needlessly complicated and it's clear the devs don't really understand it's full ramifications when they change things.

I was teetering on unsubbing since the "2.1 - Cartel Cash Grab" debacle and the dye system absurdity, but this is it. I was hoping for something new in the PvP department, some kind of world zone, or something....you know, seeing as you mentioned the October patch as the "PvP update we're going to love" and have been waiting for over a year.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised since you called the last patch "all about guilds" because of a scaling 1% experience bonus......

hmmmm 2.4 was flagged as a major PvP upgrade. I wonder what they are not telling us about the upgrade and if the changes will make PvP more new player friendly or will be for the experienced PvP players/guilds.

The previous posters articulated a question that came to mind -

(1) Are these 4v4 versions of existing warzones or new warzones specifically designed for 4v4? And, if the latter, will they be scaled?

Unrelated question/follow-up:

(2) As for the Dread Masters story arc; is there any additional companion dialogue included? If so, I'm guessing it'll be Makeb-style, not interactive or conversational?

Agreed...

My ratio is probably 70/30 in favour of PvE and even I would like to see some more more warzones...even some variations on the Huttball arena would be a start :)

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed if this is all PvP is getting, since they've hyped this up as a huge thing PvP players will absolutely love.

Wrong. They have stated again and again that they'd like to do them and that they were coming (soon), although they have been silent on the topic since they last said they wanted to implement them, which was in January and March of this year. We'd just like to finally get a target date/patch. Many including myself have cancelled my subscription because we still lack chat bubbles or any target date. If they finally gave us a patch number they targeted chat bubbles for and it isn't too far off so we can have something to look forward for, I and many others might just hang in there and renew my subscription when it expires to further fund the development of chat bubbles.
