How do you receive the Codes, doe they mail them to you in the game? As started to up date around 1am and have then spotted everyone having problems on the SW:TOR Twitter Page so i stopped my d/load at the time, but have since finished the updated and am still like everyone else being waiting for the Servers to come back Online, but i am guessing they are still Investigate the issues at this time in this last nights update!

You may be retired and have a lot of spare time. That still doesn't entitle you to decide what level is or is not acceptable for someone else. Some of us here work very long hours in stressfuly jobs, inclusding weekends, so free time has to be planned.

Anyway, I'm not ticked off about the downtime, except that I consider it shameful on a professional level. I'm insulted by the codes and the attitude they were given out in. I couldn't care less about the coins, but if you toss out five codes for something that cannot be bought ingame in any way and watch people screamble for it, taht#s not acting nice, that's simply a slap in the face for the majority of people here. You of course are free to see that differently.

Dial it back there a bit, friend. I am not deciding anything for anyone. I was speaking for myself. I get that you are irate but let's not put words in others mouths. I worked my long hours (eighteen per day for decades) and now I'm enjoying the fruits of that labour.

I'm well aware that I can see things differently. ;) Although I do appreciate you giving me permission to do so. Hope the servers come back up soon for everyone's sakes. It's getting a bit too tense.

As a Systems Engineer by trade, I often encounter people who are impacted by a technical outage. I'd say that often, the following questions are usually asked.

1. What exactly is the problem?

2. When can I expect it to be fixed?

3. What are you doing to fix it?

4. How did this happen?

5. What do I do now?

All of these questions are irrelevant when asked by the end user. Let me explain:

1. What are you hoping to gain from this? Are you going to diagnose the problem better than the engineers who are implementing it? Are you going to some how figure out what they can't? This information is pointless in the hands of the powerless.

2. This is a valid question for planning, but is setting the stage to be disappointed. Problems don't come in neatly packaged containers with cooldowns and minute-by-minute updates. If I decline to tell you a timeline, then you'll be upset. If I guess at a timeline and that time passes, you'll be upset. Committing to a timeline means that I now have to hold myself and any other technicians accountable for a timeline I may not have been prepared to meet. None of these situations are conducive to fixing problems.

3. Often, this is just like #1. Why is this a concern for the end user? Your curiosity is misplaced in the midst of a problem.

4. Root Cause Analysis is something that we do as engineers all the time. This doesn't involve the end user unless the problem originated from the end user. Nevermind that answering this question is pure speculation, 9 times out of 10, an End User wouldn't understand it even if the answer was correct. What purpose does it serve to explain a technical root cause to a person who will never again care about it once they know? So that they can further critique the process from the outside without understanding it?

5. The answer to this is similarly irrelevant. Asking it denotes two sub-problems. First, anything that an engineer tells you to do will be unacceptable, if it's not the thing that you want to do. And second, it isn't the engineer's job to tell you what to do with your life when you can't have what you want. Go outside, read a book, work on something else, etc. You knew this answer before it was asked.

I'm posting this here because I have seen these questions in varying flavors come from SWTOR Players. Yes, you have the right to feel a type of way if you are a subscriber and you aren't playing the game when you should be. Yes, you have the right to post on here with your opinions. But when you back the developers into a corner with your incessant questions that delve into areas you have no business delving into, you're only gumming up the process.

Let them work, it'll be up soon. Relax.

Just my two credits.

Still no ETA but the team is actively testing a possible fix. Once I have updated information from that test, I will pass it on.

instead of you constantly coming on here and saying sorry you should tell Kieth to do it as it was his responsibility to make sure everything was fine with this update and that stuff like this doesn't happen.

For pass the time, i want codes for all! Not only for 15 or 20 or 30 users. It's outrageous to give codes only to selected users!

You do know he is doing this on his own, and it has nothing to do with BW right at least I would hope you wouldn't think a customer that is doing this needs to do it for everyone.

I think i know what the problem was... Gault promised Eric and Keith for a few million credits...he could fix all of SWTOR's bugs and glitches... little did they know...:p... but i am sure whatever the developers are doing, it will be worth the fix... stay positive everybody...

Ok this is important, I used our down time to change my avatar. Now I feel productive.

In a show of solidarity to this post I too have been very productive over the last 30 seconds and made ammendments to my sig.

Those two things are very important to my QoL in game and out of game.

Come on down to B-W then. It's a lovely area to visit, lots of good wine and food, if you're into German cuisine. Autumn is best and don't go to the big cities for Oktoberfest, the smaller towns and villages do it muuuuch better without all the commercialisation.

I am sure they do. I am in a little town in Alabama. But near here we have a "Porktober fest". Beer and BBQ. Good times.

As for German cuisine, I am a huge fan. Sadly I have to fix my own. No one here makes a decent kraut, there is no schnitzel, can't even find a decent sausage without doing your own.

If I ever have the extra cash it is on my list (along with going back to Scotland). Not to get too personal, but you wouldn't happen to know any Amberger's or Amburgey's over there would you?

Lucky ? Don't you pay ? Aren't your €uros real ?

BTW there is a patch downloading now.

I was thinking about the beancounter factor. I'm on T3 too, but can one honestly say there are any overcrowded instances there? Or merely well populated ones? Fleet around 70-80, CZ-198 at max 14, even with the CXP bug?

The only thing that comes to my mind is the keypass-drop for H2 The Face Merchants... really people, group up, how hard... I digress.

Right, beancounter, yeah. Imagine one of those happy people, paid by EA, made some cost/revenue analysis, and the French or German localisation were suddenly deemed not cost effective anymore? It wouldn't matter how real my €uros were.

So if the tree knows you're awake it won't fall on you because it knows you'll give the royal what-for, right?

In regards to your signature....I feel your pain.

I can either say my name is "Xander" and have it spelt "Z-A-N-D-E-R", or type it somewhere and it said "Ex-Ander"

All of it, then we send him on his way, and replace him like the Dev team was replaced back when. :)

Well, knock yourself out then. I think he's doing fine given the circumstances. Not sure what else you want him to do? He's communicating what's going on in this thread and not making any wild promises. Not sure why you're out for his blood.

Did I miss out on some codes by patiently waiting and re-checking the launch without spamming devs on the board all day?

Nope, they did it once and then some people got upset/mad/aggravated (pick on) and then they decided not to do it anymore.

okay Buddy question when this happens why isn't the Public Test Server Running. it 1 keeps people off the maintenance crews butts and lets players chill till the main server's are ready. 2 I've been with this game since it's Birth in Beta, Where's my jet-pack even though I wasn't subbing when it came but I was still subbing by the key code access of a 100 a month coin and being a benefactor and Founder would we get that hk-55 any how. 3 the refer a fiend isn't giving out the 500 coins per referral but you only get the Item if the subscribe the cartel coins are not depositing the 500 when the referrals are used. The fact that he did this only angered all the players. So went to a wave of indignation. Do not need to do this or to do codes for all.

That may fall under the "It makes sense, so best not to do that" category. :p

i have to say something here. alot of the people in this thread have decided to try to crucify eric and NONE of this is his fault. hes not a coder, hes just a CSR. this means that he is the face (or in this case typed words) of the developers. this IS the fault of the developers that did not properly test their code. however, everyone makes mistakes and noone should be getting angry over a game. now i do agree that everyone should be compensated somehow, and if they cant extend the double xp event, then just send everyone enough command/xp boosts to cover the same amount of downtime (ie if downtime ends up being 24 hours, then send all level 70s 8 superior command boosts, as they last 3 hours each iirc). the less than 70s do the same thing but with xp boosts. just my 2 credits, that way everyone feels like they did lose any double xp time.
